you can quit cold turkey, (i knew a guy who quit a 25g H/day habit cold turkey, on his couch)
but if that doesn't work, you can go into treatment and do whatever they tell you to do (no matter how much you don't like the sound of it)
the truth is, it is HARD to quit on your own, because the boss you serve right now is your addiction, and you can't just quit the job that is full time mental occupation with getting messed up... but a treatment program can help you into a new way of living.

I don't know anyone who has been able to kick an addiction that heavy on their own. Not cold turkey anyway. I don't recommend it at all. You are risking your health, even your life, if you have been taking that much vicodin and stop cold turkey. You could have seizures. Even if in good health, your body is gonna react to the lack of the drug, and you are gonna have some severe withdrawals. You need to be monitored by medical personnel when this happens. Please consult a dr. and get some medical help to kick this monster on your back. Don't go it alone.

You have to wean yourself off gradually. I haven't had any luck because I have a bad opiate addiction (vicodin, percocet and morphine)also. So, I'm probably not the best person to be giving you advice. But just don't stop suddenly , do it by decreasing your dose a little every few days so you won't send your system into shock.

I agree, it's not good for your health to stop cold turkey with such a high dose, I would talk to a physician, or call your local mental health department, most have a detox. program that would help you come off it much easier, and safely. Good luck!

I wouldn't quit cold turkey, that's a huge dose. Ask your doctor if s/he can refer you to a clinic for a safe medical detoxification. If you quit cold turkey, you could die. Good luck to you, and congratulations for deciding to quit!

If you have pain problems, then that would be hard...perhaps your doctor could try you on something else?
