This is not an uncommon problem. I have made it a habit -- if it is something that I am sure I don't want to revise, but want to create a new document -- click on the down arrow beside the Open tab in the File>Open window in WORD, and you have the option of opening as Read Only. This prevents me from accidently doing just that - saving instead of save as and losing my original document.

Not much help on this one, but hopefully can help in the future.

Retrieving the document is close to impossible, even though, if it became into an modern-day rfile which you overwrote, the place else did you deliver it? Did you digital mail it to anybody? replica it everywhere? are you able to get a replica of it from yet another source? restoration utility is basically no longer efficient for you as you probably did no longer DELETE the document, particularly you made adjustments and stored it. as quickly as you get a replica, in case you utilize it in many situations for the comparable purpose, perhaps you will desire to evaluate saving it as a template....
