DEMONCRATS

I side with neither party because they do not side with me. Both parties have sold their souls to corporate money and special interest groups and no longer represent the best interests of the average American. No third party candidate has a meaningful chance as long as the electoral college is in place. Atheists have no political representation in America and the two party system makes sure of that. It's also a major reason 60% of Americans choose not to vote. A vote for either major party only strengthens our oppressors and any third party candidate hasn't got a prayer. Where's the democracy in that?

The only thing that atheists can be absolutely agreeable on is that they don't believe in god.

I know some atheist republicans. I don't like to label myself too much, but if I have to, I go with libertarian. I vote for whomever I think is going to do the best job regardless of their party affiliation. Having said that, usually the person I agree with more is a democrat.

Well, there are probably many smaller parties in the minority, but in a presidential election, an atheist would most likely vote for a Democratic candidate. Likewise, a right-wing conservative Christian would probably vote Republican.

lately, i believe the majority side with the democratic party. there's been too much demonizing of honest, hard-working atheists by the republican party for any atheists to care to support them. here's what george h.w. bush had to say about atheists:
"No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."
it's sad that we still live in a world where people like this are elected into the presidency. someone should have informed him that "under god" was not added to the pledge of allegience till 1954.

If Atheism is a religion then in our country there is no party for it. As far as Democrats being the Atheist party as a Christian Democrat I disagree.

Smaller partys or democrats. Republicans are crazy.

That's a good question. I don't think there's a clear answer. I am a member of a local Atheists group and there are a couple of avid republicans (though they are pissed that the Neocons have hijacked the party). Others are Dems and others still are libertarians or green.

Most atheists (and agnostics, and people with any common sense at all) vote Libertarian.

If you can HONESTLY see any difference between the Republicans & the Democrats then you need to take some night classes! LOL!

Atheists are more likely to be Democrats, because Republicans seem to favor turning America into a theocracy.
