I think it is. My friend's husband got one and he never goes to the gym anymore. Just uses the bowflex. And he has been using it for about 2 years now and he has great muscles. He had great muscles from the gym, but the bowflex seems to be keeping him in shape and keeping him toned.

bowflex cost $700+ dollars?! / i bought a 300# olympic barbell from store for about $150 and a book on russian strength training secrets called Power to the People (around $30?). train twenty minutes five days a wk. IN my apt. (barbells on 2 small pieces of plywood)/ got alot stronger and packed on some muscle and don't get bored doing same 3 exercises. / wouldn't have a bowflex if someone gave me one./i just suggest this as an alternative. bowflex and gym are good ideas if you use them.

Hmm. It depends on how devoted you are to bodybuilding! Don't buy it if you'll use it for several weeks then let it collect dust in your basement..

I would say that your best bet is to join a gym! I don't know how much Bowflexes cost, but I'm sure it's not TOO much more than a gym membership!

But if you really want a Bowflex and you are determined.. then go for it! =)

Make sure you have room for it, it's very big and takes quite a bit of room or you'll end up not using it like so many other people. Exercise machines have a tendency to end up as a cloths racks. It is a great machine and can be worth every penny you pay for it, if you use it. Only if you use it.

It certainly can be if you'll use it. And use it a lot.

However, I'd suggest that you look into other equipment, as well as a gym membership to see which one would be most useful for you.
