They will make you relaxed and possibly drowsy, yes they are safe.
However, should the worst come to the worst and there is an emergency your reactions might be too slow.
Therefore you would be better to ask your doctor for a Beta Blocker, which will have the same effect without the drowsiness.

Valium is a pretty heavy-duty drug prescribed to treat anxiety, stress, and seizures. It'll definitely relax you on the plane but it has some potential risks. If it is your first time taking valium, I would NOT do that on a plane. Some people have some severe reactions to valium; it's not all that common but you could get disoriented, hallucinations, and vomiting. Also if it is a short flight, valium usually lasts for 6-12 hours so it might not be the best option. Some people feel the effects of valium well into the next day.

I would recommend talking to your doctor; don't go in asking for valium specifically, ask for something to help you through the flight. He or she may prescribe valium after all, or may prescribe something much milder.

My doctor just asked me last week if I wanted any Valium for my flight to Bolivia. It is a very busy clinic with way too many patients as I had to remind him he already prescribes it for me but I never take it. I will tell you that the answer which says to take 2 mg of xanax or 10 mg of valium should be ignored. No one should ever tell someone what is okay for them to take unless they are interested in killing someone. You never know what others are allergic to and how different doses will affect them. 2mg of xanax is a heavy dose for someone who don't take it.Doctors most usually start someone on 1/2mg of it to begin with and my daughter was given .25 , half of that. For a flight the usual drug to choose would be valium anyhow. I wish ppl would think a little more before they say things like that. We are not doctors and under no circumstances should be telling ppl what to take and how much.If you fear flying that much tell your doctor and I'm sure he will do what he feels is best.

I am TERRIFIED of flying. So much so that I once got off of a plane right before they closed the doors, rented a car and made my husband drive the long 16 hours home. I am terrified of being unable to escape as well. I have a horrible fear that I am going to freak out on the plane (due to a panic attack) and try to jump out the exit door! YIKES. Anyways, I took Xanax and I flew the four hours to Florida NO PROBLEM. With that said this is my suggestion. One, try the Xanax before you fly. First of all I wanted to know how I would react to it. I did not want to find out about any bad reactions on the plane. Secondly, my doctor gave me ,25 mgs which is a normal dose for most people. This did not take off the edge and thankfully I tried this before I went on the plane because at that dose (for me personally) I would have freaked out. I took a very high dose and spaced it out over an hour. I took 1 mg one hour before getting on the plane. I highly recommend taking your pill at least 45 minutes before, my pills did not kick in 15-20 minutes after taking it. I took 1 mg right when I got on and another 1 mg dose halfway through. Now, that is a lot higher than .25 mgs. I felt completly spaced out and I slept most of the flight. I have no memory of a good portion of that flight but I would take that over freaking out anyday. Try it before you go and then you will know what will work. With that said, I talked to my doctor about taking the 3 mgs and under no circumstance should you figure out that dosing on your own. Always talk to your doctor and ask them what they think. 3 mgs worked for me but .25 mgs may work fine for you.

Valium is a potent benzodiapene- Diazepam, which will make you sleepy throughout the flight. Xanax is an anti-depressant that works well too by inducing sleep. They are safe provided you dont exceed the dose and avoid any sort of alcohol after you habve taken the dose.

As long as you're not the pilot, a Valium would be helpful. Most likely your dr. will precribe Xanax, which is an anti-anxiety med but the chemical compounds aren't as addictive as Valium.
If your doc precribes Xanax or the generic equivalent, take it and don't argue that s/he should have prescribed Valium.

my mum and aunt are the very same with flying and both of them take valium before a flight. They even share them if either runs out. I too am not a good flyer. I have taken them. They just relax you and make you sleep. My mum was so bad at one point she would take her valium and down a few vodkas as well!! no problem at all.

If you are not used to diazepam ,valium, 10-20 mg will probably send you to sleep for 5 + hours. you may feel drowsy afterwards. 5 ml would probably be enough to relax you but to stay conscious. Prob shouldnt drink too much on it. Valium is habit forming but really you have to be taking them for quite a long time to feel withdrawl. Pretty safe really but i wouldnt want to be too out of it if my plane had a problem!!!!!

maximum vets do no longer recommend sedatives for canines that are flying, even notwithstanding i'm positive a touch Rescue treatment should be ok. I fly with my chihuahua each and each of the time and he's thoroughly high quality. once the airplane starts transferring he in a lot of circumstances sleeps. I in basic terms make positive he's conscious of i'm there and once in a lengthy time period I placed him on my lap...yet you receives heck in the adventure that they see you! Get her used to her holiday bag before you flow, and make positive she's wearing some thing warmth because the floor receives truly chilly, extremely in iciness. i'm hoping it really is not any longer an instant flight, then you definitely can take her out to potty and play with her. sturdy success, i'm positive she'll be in basic terms high quality! :)
