So many of us continue to do things the hard way. As I lead or manage project leaders and colleagues , I've discovered that many do not learn how to take advantage of the advances in technology that place an interesting ammount of excellent information and know-how at our finger-tip.

Because we don't take advantage of the shortcuts that are available, we wind up wasting a lot of time and effort.

Why cant everyone who is in the rat chace either at climbing the corporate ladder or even as a student never make it a habit to spend time each week discovering new and excellent sources of superb information that will maximize one's effectiveness.

One example ( just one ) : there are excellent quotes by the best of the best of the best who have tried , experienced and triumphed to discover the "formula" or "secret recipe" for a guaranteed success in the form of "wisdom codes" or "QUOTES" that if followed can never fail. ( statistics shows only 5 out of 100 people do apply

I know experince is a great tutor , but one cannot expect to have experience everything in everything or wait or say with stuborn to learn everything only through experience - if one want to experience everything then success is not that persons goal and I can even see through his bank account balance or study results ( not good ).

Remember we dont have the age or time or is it wise to learn everything through experience alone.

Besides, nobody want to hire anyone who is stuborn and do not want to learn new proven concepts to upgrade and update himself but insisting in experiencing it first !! ( this is not productivity )

Your question appears to be rhetorical so I'll just agree with you that the old saying, "don't reinvent the wheel" , has a lot of merit. I think most people don't take advantage of what's already been learned for a number of reasons: 1) ego--by the time a person realizes he doesn't know it all then he's already learned a lot of things from the school of hard knocks; 2) there's a lot of info out there all claiming to be the "right" way or best idea. This confuses people, many of whom don't know how to think logically, without emotion.

These are just some thoughts....but what the heck do I know.

Some have opportunities:
parents pay for college (and go to the finest schools through life) and don't need to work a low paying job.
have connections
other short cuts.

Some people are poor or middle class and don't have short cuts (some manage to "make-it" even with the obstacles).

Because sometimes using others shortcuts distracts us from avenues of discovery missed by the first person. Sometimes you have to go back to basics and start fresh in order to find a fresh perspective and one which you can believe in.

Some people are perfectly happy learning things the "hard way" and that's what works best for them. Wisdom is in understanding this and letting them alone.

Every generation think their ideas are valid thus experience is the road used most often., Then they tell the next generation do it this way with no effect.

Because generally everyone of us are followers of whatever we learn and and also want adventures moments in life every time with full independence.

Because we ALWAYS think we are right and our ideas are better. Even if time and history has proven a theory to be correct, someone will always test it. Ocasionally we are right, but not often.

It is kind of hard discovering new technologies - when you would buy a brand new computer today, and tomorrow that same computer would be considered obsolete.
