i say it is the same thing, that oxycontin is time release. my friend says that it is not even the same thing. thank you for anyone out there that can help us.

They are the same drug one is time released.oxycodone is also prescribed as just oxycodone and is not timed release. It is just called oxycodone. It is also the narcotic ingredient in Percocet only then it is a combination drug. It has oxycodone and acetaminophen. So you can get plain oxycodone, oxycodone as a combo drug as in Percocet, and timed release oxycodone which is called oxycontin.

Oxycontin is a time released form of oxycodone. It comes in 10, 20, 40, and 80 mg doses. Oxycontin is usually prescribed for chronic pain patients who have already used other painkillers, and have grown tolerant to them, or need a large number of other painkillers to function.

oxycodone hydrocloride is in oxycontin and is controlled release,and yes they are the same the name is oxycontin tablets

I say they are too different drugs. Oxcodone is the generic name for percocet. Oxcontin may be time released but it is also alot stronger than oxcodone.
