Seriously... maybe he is a good driver, but I AM SICK OF HEARING ABOUT HIM! There are other great drivers in NASCAR besides him.

JPM was overrated in Indy; overated in F1; and now he is overrated in NASCAR.

I follow F1 and most of the time the only way JPM won was when he wrecked someone. Seems he brought that practice to NASCAR as well.

Like you I am sick of hearing about JPM. Jamie McMurry is starting to look alive. Mark Martin running a partial schedule is still kicking butt and taking names. Jeff Gordon is running hot and it is only a matter of time before he breaks his winless streak. Junior took some laps in Hendricks car. Kurt Busch keeps looking hot early in a race and then bad luck hits; keep an eye on him his luck is about to change for the better. Kyle Busch is the most aggressive and reckless Driver on the track. Tony Stewart just can't seem to stay out of trouble on the track.

You are so right. There are so many stories going on in NASCAR besides JPM and Dale Jr.. NASCAR is wondering why its numbers are slipping. The Press keeps highlighting JPM and Junior and Fans of other Drivers are getting sick and tired of the sportlight be monopolied by these two Drivers.

JPM is great for NASCAR and I love the fact that he comes in as a rookie and doesn't take crap from anybody, especially Stewart. Tony does the exact things he bitches about other drivers doing. Juan Pablo Montoya is not overrated, he is living up to the hype. Remember that this is the first time he has seen these tracks, it's not like he worked his way up from the Busch series. He's fighting for the same real estate that all the drivers are entitled to and if you can't take the heat you better get out of his way. As for you being sick of hearing about him, that's too bad. He's doing better than many of the drivers you hear way more about including the likes of Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick and even Jr.

You're correct saying he is a good driver, but he's also a big story to NASCAR p/r because he's a rookie (in both Busch and Nextel) and doing pretty good. Last year the talk was all about Denny Hamlin, the year before it was Carl Edwards. Anytime you have a rookie run real good like these three have, you get alot of stories.

I'll agree with others though--there are to many stories about Juan and Dale Jr. It does seem that reporters are forgeting about Mark Martin's great runs and Jeff Burton stalking to take the lead in the points. Although being a Jeff Gordon fan, and having great respect for J.B., I think the 8 pint difference is fine.

Montoya was a really good open wheel driver. I think that he will be a good NASCAR driver after a year of experience. I still think that he made a bad move in spinning his teammate in the Mexico race a few weeks ago. Not a good move.
I don't know that he is over-rated because he is a pretty good driver. Dont expect too much this year, but in 2008, he could be very good.

Juan has a lot to learn. He won't have any help out there in NASCAR if he doesn't straighten-up his act a little. He also needs more circle track time. He has more potential than most rookies coming in because of his racing experience but that will only take him so far. He needs to make lots of friends right now and stay cool.

The media is "talking him up" because he a "real minority." It would be the same if a black driver came into the NASCAR ranks, or a woman (just wait and see!).

I'm not saying he doesn't have any TALENTS or SKILLS... he HAS to to be where he is. But it's the media's over-hyping of him that is sickening everyone and really hurting Montoya's chances of actually getting a solid foothold into NASCAR.

Again Montoya was a ***** in every series he raced in, he got kicked out of F1 for the way he drove, and now he is bringing that style to Nascar. Soon enough he will start getting punted into the wall every race because he likes to do that to everyone else. He has been known as a dirty racer his whole racing life, what is suppose to change now.

He is getting a lot of press but he is a good driver. He has made mistakes because he is a rookie in Nascar and will get better with time.

I think it is hard to argue with his championships in Formula1, his win in the Busch Series (earlier this season), and his strong finishes (for the most part, for a rookie) in the Cup Series. So to answer your question, sorry, I don't think he is overrated at all. I cant say I'm a huge fan of the guy and yes I am tired of hearing about him already. They give him way to much "TV time". I did pick him on a fantasy race team as category eight driver, and I'm glad I did. Hes got more points than every other option in that category (on my fantasy league).

Its an amazing story and he is constantly proving how good he could potentially be. You have to remember, he has never driven a car like this professionally before and many of the tracks he has NEVER even been to! Yea he has made a few rookie mistakes, but that is to be expected. I don't see how you could possibly say he is overrated... I don't think anyone who really knows NASCAR expected him to be in the top 20 in points at this stage.
