Hi i've never been to the USA before in fact never caught a flight lasting more than an hour. Is there anything I would need to know that is different re flights, customs etc for bigger flights like this. No experience and get confused by it all... Also whats it mean when the plane has a stop, ie for an hour or two at most. What happens? Thanks so much in advance.

Flying in the USA is the same as anywhere else. Info often will depend on where you are coming from, what airline you are on, and where you are landing.

When a plane makes a stop it does just that, stops at a certain airport on the way to another. Most stops are very short, just long enough to let some people off and others on. It's very rare for it to last a few hours, however in that case you are let off to use the airport terminal and then re-board the same plane at the same gate you got off.

If you transfer planes, that is when you will get off at one gate and get on another plane at a different gate (rarely running). Your baggage will be transfered for you.

Check the website for USA homeland security for an restrictions on what you can and cannot bring into the country. Figure it will take you about 1-2 hours to get your bags and get through customs (depending on where you land and how much traffic is at that time).

when the plane has a stop it means your plane lands you get off you find what gate your new plane leaves at and run that way. then you board that plane and finish your flight. some times very rarely you stay on the one plane and it just drops off some passengers and picks up some as well. welcome to the USA. where about here are you traveling in ? work or fun ? either way have fun and goodly luck !

Traveling to the USA is the same as traveling anywhere else. Just read the signs to see where you need to go. If you still can't figure it out then ask osomeone.
