Because you forget how bad it really hurts until your next labour starts! Then all the painful memories come flooding back! But when you think about it in the grand scheme of things, what's a few hours of pain in a lifetime, especially when you get such a precious reward out of it! Plus labour is different every time, some people have painless births so go for it and hope for the best!

I heard all sorts of horror stories when I was pregnant and when it was my turn, even though it hurt it wasn't as bad as everyone made out. I was exactly the same as you and swore I'd never have children coz i was so scared of labour but there are all kinds of pain relief about and it really isn't that bad. You could always ask for a C section but then your stuck in hospital for a week or so and can lift for a while. Honestly don't be put off because the pain is easily forgotton and look what you get! A beautiful baby. I'm now planning for my 2nd so it can't be all bad. Good luck for the futurexx

Yes i remember that question too - i answered it. Look it`s like this - childbirth is very painful, but the very second it is over and you lay eyes on your baby - all memory of the pain is instantly gone. Also the relief of the pain being over is a wonderful feeling. You cannot put it into words. It has to be experienced. I have had agonising labours, yet i have 9 kids ! I have a 5 year old grandaughter - and i watched her being born - it was very different being on the other side of the bed i tell you ! But what a beautiful experience watching her come into the world ! It moved me to tears. There is nothing to match that feeling that sweeps over you when they put your baby in your arms. After my first child, obviously i knew what was coming when i got pregnant again, and yes i was a little nervous, but i also knew the prize i would be getting at the end. You never forget your children being born. I can remember in detail every one of my kid`s births - and my grandaughter`s - and i don`t regret any of it - not for a second.

Because what you get at the end of it all is worth it! Just to hold that new little baby that you created is the most beautiful thing in the world. You will never have anyone love you so unconditionally than your child. Besides relax about labour, read all you can be well informed of all your choices, afterall we are all afraid of the unknown so the more you know the less scary it will be and everyones labour is different yours may only be 2hours :) (and there is drugs or you may be able to opt and have a c section birth) Best of luck with your decision

Not everyone has terrible labour pain. Talk to your mother, how did she do? There are medications now that can block out most of the pain. Sometimes the pain is severe because the baby is not positioned correctly, a doctor can correct it and things go better. Also, talk to your doctor about your concerns, he can help you decide whether you should have the baby naturally or suggest a cesarean delivery.
Women continue to have babies because very soon after the birth we forget the pain and remember the joy of seeing our baby for the first time, we grow in the love for the baby and as a mother, you will do anything for your baby, anything.

Sorry to write this 1st bit but if you get pregnant accidentally (all 4 of mine were not planned) you only have 2 choices, one you get rid of it NOT a nice option! or two you have it!
My 2nd child was the worst MAKE sure you have a labour plan (or whatever they call it these days) WRITTEN down not just verbally tell the midwives cuz wen things start gettin busy they dont always remember verbal requests!
HAVING said all that it is worth every minute of the labour to have your very own child at the end no-one else in the world can take that away from you, it is the most incredible feeling i cant explain when the nurse 1st hands your child to you! My oldest is 11 & i can still picture it, my youngest is 2!

I have a 8 month old daughter. And i don't want to do it again. Not just because of labour. I had 2 1/2 days and she was back-to-back, which was quite painful. not even giving birth was so bad. But then i needed a few stitches and that was the worst for me. plus putting on 4 stone during pregnancy.
And then the 2 1/2 month of non stop screaming thanks to really bad colic.
If i wouldn't have her yet, and would know all these things, I'd still have a baby. but only the one. Don't let all these things put you off. My daughter is so amazing now. It was worth it.
don't know how people can afford more than one child anyway. i don't buy anything expensive for her, but I've still spent a small fortune.

Every woman is different I had no pain( alittle uncomfortable) during my twin labor they where natural and just to hold ur baby after birth will make u forget the pain u had(but get an epidural then u wont feel anything if done right)
Its a magical moment and u will know that u can fall in love of first sight when u look in to ur baby's eyes.
I had C/S after that and that hurt I wont lie to u because its major surgery and I had emergency c/s.
believe me every women is different with there pain level but u see it will be all worth in the end holding that precious baby I'm sorry the comments left by others scared u.

stop asking people. if it was that bad women would not be getting pregnant all the time - if you are that scared then just make sure you have all manner of pain relief on standby -you never know you might just cope really well with it all. every one is different - i am due in three weeks and am nervous as hell - i am aware it is going to hurt but if i feel i cant cope then i am just going to have an epidural. dont opt for a c section - they should only be an option if there are complications - your out of action for about six weeks after and cant do any lifting or anything.
Just be brave and get on with it - that is what i have had to tell myself !!!
Good luck
