i cashed it but didnt touch the money. how do i send it back??

More details would help.
If you got a check from some person you don't know who asked you to cash it for them and send them the money. This is a SCAM and the check will turn out to be no good. Your bank will be asking for the money back shortly anyways.
If this is from a business or person you have delt with in the past. Ask them how they would like it back. They would either want the cash back or ask you to write another check to them for the amount.

get a bank check made out to the person or company that you cashed the check from. And send it back.
By cashing some checks that are sent to you, yo get into an agreement with the maker. Such as credit reporting agencies. You might be stuck for period of time and it could cost you more than the check was worth.

If you cashed the check, you don't have it to send back. If you want to return the money to whoever you got the check from, you need to ask them how to do so. If we are discussing some type of loan check, congratulations, you are in debt.

there sounds like there is more to this story than you're letting on. did you break some kind of law? if so, i'd contact an attorney. with checks and the like, you WILL get caught, it is just a matter of time...
