Ask one of your grandchildren (if they're old enough) or one of your children to write a letter or email to an immigration department. Since you've been here for such a long time, there might be a special rule.

I vaguely remember something on the news about such a clause where if you're here illegally for a certain amount of time, you become elligible to change your status.

I mentioned that you have one of your children or their children write the letter since they are most likely citizens and if immigration knocks at their door they have birth certificates to prove they were born here. It just seems to be a little bit safer that way.

Some of the other "answers" are absolutely disgusting. You asked a fairly legitimate question. "Swim back" or "go home" is absolutely disturbing. If only we could deport individuals with such worthless mentalities.

Since 1956? can you tell me why you did not normalize your status in 1986? There was a massive amnesty then. Why have none of your children applied for you to adjust your status? They can since they are US citizens born here. Any child over 21 and making more than 125% of the poverty limit can adjust the status of their parents.

Stop leeching from my tax money and go back to mexico and apply for a visa. Setting up a family and buying property sounds like a bad investment. Good luck though.

EDIT: Why didnt you apply for amnesty in the 80's?? You messed that one up.

you most likely will not be deported.
But you should have to pay the taxes you owe the legal citizens of this great country.
You should fix the problem you have created. You came to America for a reason. Keep AMerica great and do what is right

why did you not apply for the 1986 amnesty? It must be sad to live with such fear, but you brought it on yourself. I suggest you keep a low profile and buy a third home in Mexico just in case

apparently you have become a successful individual while living here illegally or not, so dont listen to the people who dont have anything else to do but insult people. the only way that ive heard you can get citizenship is if you go back to mexico for a while and apply for citizenship, maybe you should apply for residency first?

You ignored your chances in the 1986 Amnesty offer? You have kids here and haven't attempted to use them as anchor babies?

Any one of the 6.2 Million people backlogged in the INS system, waiting patiently in their home countries (including Mexico and Central America) would have had the gumption to do something before now.

Thanks for adding even more clarity to why we MUST enforce the immigration laws...people who deserve it, deserve it!

Anyone who'd pass up 50 years of opportunity is dead LAZY.

Do the honorable thing and give up your spot to one of the hundreds of thousands waiting in the Philippines, India, China, Russia and others!

If what you asked is true, please go public. We who favor law and ambition need your story. You're the poster child for building the wall, YESTERDAY.

Don't know if you should have done something or not? You obviously have to be in your 50's or so. You had an amnesty and blew that off. Ya.....go home......you'll have a better life there in your retirement than you will here.

I would go back to Mexico and then start over. But not to be insulting or anything, but if you want to be in America soo bad, why are you calling us Nazis and saying we're horrible. I'm sorry but if your gonna insult our country, then why live here.
