buy those soft curlers and sleep in them. it is soooo easy and you save so much time in the morning. you just take them out and only brush the top of your hair otherwise you brush right through the curls. then use hairspray, not mousse. ive found that a great brand of hairspray is matrix hairspray. and for looser, messier curls, you separate each curl in two. it is a more casual, less shirley temple look.
then for waves, (that are different than when you scrunch it) sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......

and as for just regular hairstyles, i would try sidebangs or whispy bangs instead of thick ones......dont know about the cut i might have to see the shape of your face, sry....
you can also do buns, because they are pretty in, or low pigtails, but you might be a little old for them, but my sister in college looks cute in them so i dont know.....
as for hairbands, very cute and in!!! definitely!!!
u could wear your hair half-up, leaving your bangs down.....

hope i helped!!! good luck!!!

You can make a sophisticated ponytail by wearing it low, wrapping a section of your hair around the elastic and securing it with a pin. You can also use a ribbon for a touch of whimsy.

Hair bands are in this season. Plain thin ones are very classic. Or you can use a scarf for a retro '60s look. You can embellish plain ones with hot glue and buttons or beads for a casual or evening look.

You can make your hair into a neat bun. For a plain but finished look, pin down strays w/ hair pins that have tortoise shell on one side. (Goody makes them.) For a dressier effect use hair pins w/ pearls or rhinestones.

For a casual look, make a messy bun or chignon.

You can braid your hair & wear the braid down. Or you can loosely braid your hair & create a bun.

BTW, you can braid your hair after shampooing and let it dry. Take out the braids and you'll have a loose wave/crimp that's perfect for a beachy, summer look.

Allure & InStyle are really good magazines for hair style ideas.

Why don't you try using your straightening iron to curl it...It's pretty easy. All you do is take a small chunk of hair, start from the skull...Clamp your hair in the straightening iron & as you pull your hair through, twist it around the barrel. It looks really good (not to formal or anything) & it takes like 5 minutes.

get a ceramic hair straightener. ceramic gives your hair glossy shine and silky. make sure to use a serum like garnier fructis sleek and shine serum not the milk the serum, biosilk, paul mitchell's skinny smooth serum. I've used all of these before and work great. be sure to apply this and more on your ends to prevent breakage and then straighten never straighten on all wet hair must straighten on damp and serumed hair.

do you have highlights? you should get ash blonde highlights to show your features on your face more.

you could get a perm, put streeks, or wash and put rollers in it. The rollers would make it wavy. You could also put the camel hump in the front like the one in the pic of my avitar.

Get a spiral perm, and make sure you condition your hair. Best Wishes!
