You can probably buy a new one cheaper than you can fix the green one. I just had to replace a 20-inch for the same reason.

It can be done providing the tubes have identical fittings and the same diameter neck and the base boards plug into both tubes. I have done it when everything has been different but then I had a bit of practice to go on !! . Still if all comes to naught then you will still have gained a little more experience !! Good luck and enjoy it . Pete
Oh yes I should have said do not drop the tube nor wave it about just holding it by its neck !!! But you knew that didn`t you ?
It seems we have to educate RB as well. If the CRT did have short it would Cathode / grid wich swithes the green gun full on ! The boost transformer is just a transformer that over runs the tube heater ie it supplys 8volts insted of 6.3volts, it is not to isolate heater from cathode though sometimes it can be done !!!
Anybody else ???

Warning: The tube on a television carry a lethal charge even after its been unplugged. Repairing a TV is beyond consumer. Green TV is caused by a lot of things. Sometimes because the tube itself is bad. Sometimes its the circuit. Its rarely the tube unless its been dropped. If you really want to repair it, there are books on how to repair tv, but first you have to understand electronics, know what is a transistor, capacitor, resistor, etc. You would have to be very patient.

Besides the high voltage, there is a vacuum on the tube, so it can implode. If the tube # is the same, you can exchange them. Then you might need to adjust convergence.
The green is probably a cathode short. They used to sell Boosters. These had transformers in them, which eliminated the short problem. If you find an old TV shop, they might have one.

the project seems to be like with the television tube. which could purely be shown via a technician. If its the tube then you definately are in for a super fee. greater desirable factor in that caase may well be which you get a sparkling television on your place. Coz this television being so old won't pull via a lot so which you will might desire to do the fee of procuring for a sparkling one quickly besides the fact that in case you get this repaired at this point as its undecided how lengthy will the old one pull. additionally the repairing of television tube is an exceedingly costly factor to do and its not truly worth placing in a lot money in an old television. in case you purchase a sparkling television atleast you're confident that it will final years. So get the project checked and if its the tube then replace the television and happy gazing .......appreciate

DANGER HIGH VOLTAGES - do not mess about changing tubes unless you are fully aware of the hazards.

Visit you local recycling centre where there will probably be loads of dumped working TVs.
