nothing is required to believe in something if you feel better then you must be doing something right. I believe in god and that by doing good things no matter how small or big is good enough. I don't believe going to a place of worship like a church automatically makes you a good person either. I think the ask and you shall recieve thing can work too. Also if you follow everything in the bible you'll have to stone to death every gay person and sexually assaulted animal you see which are just few of the things in the more hardcore parts of the bible. I think i'll stick to the ten commandments.

Believe it or not you are already a Christian. The rest is just specifics. I belong to the Vineyard Church, but I know many other "religions" feel the same way. The first step to being a Christian is by letting God into your heart. By recognizing that he He exists you have opened the door to His love. Finding the church that you will be comfortable in can be a challenge. Some churches believe that rules and discipline is the key to Christianity. Jesus did not feel that way. When He was nailed to the cross he had a thief and a murderer with Him. One cursed Jesus as he died, and the other begged Him for forgiveness. The one who showed remorse was able to go to heaven. He was saved. He did not have a church, he was not baptized.
My favorite book in the bible is Matthew. I think that is the best book to study for first time readers, John would be the next. Read one chapter at a time and write down what you thought was the most important. For the next week, find a Person in your life that you respect that is a Christian. Use them as a resource to ask questions. Most Christians will stop their day to talk about their story and listen to yours. Use them as a guide to find what church will be good for you. You can use my group as a resource and we can help you as well.

No you don't need to get baptized. Baptism is to make it know that you are a Christian. I would start out being a Christian by picking up a Bible at your local bookstore. Focus mainly on the New Testament specifically The Gospels of Matthew Mark Luke and John. A Christian is a follower of Jesus's life and teachings. Study how he lived and go from there. I would suggest a Protestant church but that isn't up to me.

Yes, you should get baptized. It seems that now you have already asked the Lord into your heart and made you a new person. The next step is to make a public confession of your faith through baptism, following the example of Christ and the Apostles, and all the gentiles that they baptized in the NT. You should go to a church where only baptism by immersion is practiced. This is the only form of baptism that is Scriptural. It symbolizes death and burial by going down into the water, and resurrection by coming back up. Sprinkling and other false forms of baptism cannot accomplish this effect.

John 3:5 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God".
Baptism is considered a requirement as evidenced by what Jesus himself said. However Baptism does not always have to be performed by an ordained minister. Baptisms by believing Christians were done in the early church and are still done. Can be done in a swimming pool, river, etc. Having said that most churches require you to be Baptised in their church to become a church member. But Baptism by a fellow believer is valid for salvation. It is symbolic of the cleansing from sin, and the birth or passage into the rebirth as a 'born again' believer.
Please feel free to visit my prayer pages web site and check out the Salvation page it will give you a lot of information about what salvation is http://sofprayers.logoranchtx.com/

Welcome!
Physical baptism is important but the requirement is the baptism of the spirit.
Of course you should study the Bible:
Basic
Instructions
Before
Leaving
Earth
But also try reading:
"The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren and later try "Systematic Theology" by Wayne Gruden also "Letter from a skeptic" is a great read.
Most importantly, be kingdom-minded and live a life giving grace as you have been given grace.

Christ's
Expense

Yes baptism is a requirement, but it must be done by someone that has the authority to perform this ordinance. It must be done by someone that holds the Aaronic Priesthood. This is why Jesus Christ saught out John the Baptist. John held this priesthood authority that was passed down through his lineage. That priesthood has been restored just as the Bible prophesied. Contact your local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for more information.
Why can't you go to church?

Baptism is a subject of debate among Christians. Some say yes must be baptized in water others say that we are baptized in spirit once we receive the Holy Spirit and others say it is making a public statement of your faith with public baptism. I would say that if you are already feeling closer to God it must not be required but if you want to make a public statement of your faith then you should pursue baptism. Mostly I would like to say welcome to our family. I would encourage you to seek like believers by attending a church and make some friends to help you on your journey. Look for a church that is for good things like spreading the love and word of God and encouraging peace as opposed to one that is really just against a lot of things. For example though I'm not Catholic I have a lot of respect for Mother Teresa and she said that we would never see her at an antiwar rally but she would attend a peace rally. Once again I would like to welcome you into God's family. God bless you. If you don't already have a bible then you should get one. Try and find one that is easy for you to read.

If you believe that Jesus is the Savior you already are a Christian.
If You wish to know more. Buy a Bible and read the New Testament.
The Gospel of John is a great starting point.
I guess all you have to do is ask.
It seems quite simple but it works.

It is still strange to me people want to convert to something they don't know. but.. like the wiccan and the "I don't know" and the muslim or jew from before:
Go to some churches, talk to their clergy,
Find some fellowship online or at churches,
Speak to people who are already christians,
Baptisem is required by most sects of christianity,
Read your bible, (which ever version you like or more than one)
Read some other books on your religion.
Once you have thuroughly explored it and decided it is for you go through the baptisem, it's a form of initation.
Good luck! And congradulations on finding a religion you are comfortable with!
I'll resist making a healing magic comment now. :) Light and Love! BB
no church? you must be young or opressed... Try
http://cyber-church.com/
http://online-churches.net/
theese have ministries online one with live sermons, both with bible studies etc etc. But afterall jesus said you didn't need a church so, seek your god in your heart, look for other christians for companionship and fellowship!
