I have a wooden pine table that has been painted blue, and now a country red. I would like to spray paint it black now, but I am thinking this is probably too many layers of paint. Would it be better if I sanded (tons of work!) it, or is there something I can put on it to help scrape the paint off? Thanks in advance! for for the tips.

There is a product called Zip Strip. You can find it in home improvement stores. It's easy to use. Just brush it on, let it sit and scrape away!

Go to the hardware store. Get some poly-strippa or something similar. Paint thinner won't work. Do it outside or at the very least, with the window open, put down lots of newspaper and get some rubber gloves. The hardware guys will tell you all about it. Also, there are books at the library - free! Read and learn.

There are chemical strippers that you paint on, the paint blisters up in 30 minutes and then it is easy to scrape off.

Nitromors is one such product.

I would just spray paint it, they now have spray cans of acrylics so why go through the hassle if your paint is adhered well now.

Use Jasco Gold paint remover. Get it at Lowes, Costco, etc.
