It was September 11, 1857. A wagon train of 160 settlers on their way to California was massacred by a bunch of Mormons dressed in Indian clothes. 17 children under the age of 8 were spared and lived to tell their story.
1st. They dressed as Indians but after five days they changed tactics.
2nd. Then they went a bit away ,dressed back into normal clothes and acted like the Rescue Party who had negotiated a deal with the"Indians".
3rd, Then confiscated all the guns as part of the deal for "saving" the travellers and Mormon dissidents( who were the reason for the attack in the first place).
4th. Took everybody off a mile or so and shot them all. 2 men got away but were eventually tracked down and killed a day or so later.
5th. Took the 17 children they had not killed back with them to Salt Lake City.
6th. Got away with it. After a publicized trial, with the childrens own testimony admitted into the court, only 1 man was convicted and hung, John D. Lee. ( pardoned by Church 1950)

It ended up being called the Mountain Meadows Massacre. The first time in U.S. history that U.S. citizens were massacred on U.S. soil by religious wacko terrorists. The U.S. population was much smaller then so the death toll is proportionately 10 times worse.

I have heard of this one. Mormons only admit this one under duress. Their spin doctors can't put a positive spin on this one.

Difference is the 1857 massacre was on a migration trail. Today was on an education establishment. Though the 1857 killingt was due to religious indifferences, the shooting today is still not fully explained. Before anyone starts comparing which was worst, the investigations need to be finished first.

If this is due to religion, culture, or political views, then yes. However, if it was just an act of mental health issues, then no. Waco standoff was a result of mental issues, along with Jeffrey Dahmer.

Did you ever hear of the HAUN"S Mill Massacre?

A mob of anti-Mormons stormed a small settlement at Haun's mill, 19 unarmed persons were killed. One was a 10 year old boy who was shot point blank in the head. The killer then said "Nit's make lice, and if he had lived, he would have become a Mormon".

Rumor has it that some members of the Fancher party bragged that they were in the mob that killed the prophet and his brother, and were at Haun's mill and Far West.

Look them up.

I'm not condoning what happened at Mountain Meadows. But, in light of these things, it's understandable why tempers would be short.

And how many of the United States were not even states as of 1857?

Get a clue Mr. Know-It-All! Nobody cares about your trivial crap.

Those 160 people were not killed by "1" or 2 people. Get a clue and hit yourself in the head with a nice thick Encyclopedia!

Dude...You'e way off. The worst one in History was in 1861 - 1865 and about 400,000 americans were killed!

They used thousands of guns, cannons, etc. The one you're talking about isn't even worth mentioning compared to the worst one ever....let alone Virginia Tech.

.......btw, we all know you hate Mormons, why don't you just come out and say "I hate mormons" instead of coming up with stupid posts like this one? Most of your "Questions" are just "I hate mormons" posts.

I hadn't heard about that; but this is a different time, there were not big, supposedly safe, schools, or modern weaponry, or giant media like today.
