The Wounded Knee Massacre

Occurred on Dec. 29 1890. It involved the U.S. 7th Calvary and a large group of Native Sioux.

The Sioux where to be "escorted" by the 7th to a site for a "relocation" program.

During a weapons turn in, shooting broke out and 300 Natives and 25 soldiers where dead.

Chief Big Foot was the leader of the Sioux massacred at Wounded Knee. It was Black Coyote who started the mele by not turning over his rifle to the 7th Army surrounding their camp with Hodgkiss guns.

It actually was not a battle but a massacre. It resulted in the deaths of the following--
Chief Big Foot died at the battle site
Sitting Bull was killed at Standing Rock Res in North Dakota, before he got there
Yellowbird and Black Coyote were killed at the battle site!

about 300 or more persons..yes Lakota oyate are people. other than that I don't understand the question, it was 7th cav. but what exactly are you asking? Big Foot ? Sitting Bull was shot later as I recollect.
