I once overheared my relatives talking about that when Israel and Palestine make peace all hell will break loose. What does this mean? Does natural disasters and the promotion of gays and lesbians have anything to do with the final days? I'm really serious guys, please leave mature responses.... And please don't let my question offend anyone, I just want to know the truth behind this.

There is a scripture which states, "they cry peace!, Peace!, but there is none".......

Once peace is declared, one will come on the scene appearing as the messiah that they did not believe already came......

this one they will believe, because he will be the one they seek.... He can do some things......

but, in the middle of a 7 year peace accord, the truce will be broken, and he will declare himself God..... He will declare martial law in the land and people will be killed on a massive scale......

Remember the saying, "abomination that makes desolate"......

an abomination is something that is vile, despicable, abhorrent, and causes disgust.........It is against life..... and whatever makes desolate, is that which destroys on a massive scale......

When you see that abomination of desolation sitting where it ought not be".... according to Scripture, this will be set up on the west wing of the temple in the middle of the truce.....

Then all hell will break loose......

but, it's all about that peace......

Watch for it....it will be soon...... Things are being put into action to cause it to be.... and it has always been about that land.... because it is Christ's.... He is the king of that place.... and when this one comes, he will be sitting in Christ's seat!

I've never read the book of revelations so I may get this all wrong. I understand some people have the idea that the all the Jews returning to the holy land, an event known at the "ingathering", is foretold in it and presages the "end of times" an armageddon in which the earth is destroyed and everyone on it is killed, the Christians go to heaven and 1/3 of the Jews who accept Christ. Everyones else, I guess, goes to hell, including unrepentent gays and lesbians whether or not they accepted Christ. Christ then returns and brings those who accepted him back to life and he rules for 1000 years. I'm not sure whether the earth is destroyed by natural disasters such as a giant meteor or volcano, or man-made disasters such as a nuclear war. I think these "end of days" believers would be happy with either, so long as the earth is destroyed.

I'm not sure about this either, but I think in this view of Christianity the earth might be destroyed because of sinfulness, and being a gay or a lesbian is considered a sin.

I've met people who believe something like this, but other Christians think it's pretty kooky. Particularly those Christians who believe his message was one of love and forgiveness, peace and goodwill to all mankind, who after all said that "marriages are made in heaven" which, since know one knows for sure, could certainly apply to gays and lesbians who want to marry. Certainly there are Christians who don't believe that homosexual activity done in love is a sin. If you're worried about it, you might read "American Fascists" by Chris Hedges. Chris Hedges is a Christian theologian and journalist. (I should warn you, if your relatives are believers in this "end of days" stuff, you could get in trouble with them by reading it)

Perhaps your relative were saying, Israel and Palestine will make peace when hell freezes over?

They may have been referring to the low chance that Israel and Palestine would make peace. Or they may have been referring to what those two countries could do to the world if they ever became allies. You should ask your relatives to explain to you what they meant. That’s the only way you’re really going to find out what they meant. I wouldn’t think that natural disasters or the promotion of homosexuality would have anything to do with it.

The anti-christ is a charismatic political figure that will rise to power and set up a (false) peace agreement between Israel and her enemies. After 3.5 years, the anti-christ will break the peace agreement and begin killing Jews like crazy. 3.5 years later, Jesus will return and set them straight. This 7 year periood is called the tribulation and there will be much suffering in the world, great earthquakes, climate changes, etc. You are blessed to have relatives that take heed to God's word, the bible. Our hope as Christians is the rapture, that God will remove us from the world before tribulation. I believe the rapture is biblical and true. If you're interested further and want some scriptures, I'll help you.

Promotion of gays and lesbians? Since when have we gotten promoted? I'm missing these darn staff meetings. Look, spend your time cultivating knowledge, wisdom and altruism and don't worry about what other people are doing, nor the future except your own.

It will be like the war they had not too long ago when one of their soldiers was kidnapped and they began fighting. That is what they meant. Or even the war we are in now. Or the civil war going on over there now.

Hope this helps you.

You might want to read the book of Revelations to truly understand what happens in the end times. However, I suggest that you get a few companion study guides to help you decipher what all the symbolism means in Revelations. Two good places to look would be www.biblegateway.com and www.wayofthemaster.com. You could also google Jack Van Impe ministries. God's speed to you.

The final divine retribution "end of the world" has been happening for two thousand years. It will cease happening when the human mind finally crawls out of the cave and grows up past terminal childhood.

A lot of fire and brimstone that takes our eye off of what we. personally are supposed to be doing to help others and our own spiritual health.

Just my opinion, the best chance of the rapture is the one that happens when we die, and I am not convinced it (The big Rapture) will be in our lifetime.

We should try to always be ready, for "None will know the day or the hour"

There is only one person who will broker peace between Israel and Palestine. A false peace. He will be revealed as the Antichrist.
