I majored in psychology and minored in sociology. They complement eachother the best but you need to worry about what is best for you in terms of personal growth, interest, and career.

If you can handle the workload, English and Psychology will be a lot more challenging and will ultimately look better for jobs and grad schools.

Sociology is a joke (I went to a very respected school (kenyon- check it out if you want), and even there, it was a joke... until you get to higher level classes reserved for majors and minors.

So how about this, major in whichever one you like Best (psychology may be the easiest choice for several reasons including the fact that it may require classes that take a full 3 years to complete i.e. social vs. science psych classes that may only be offered in certain sections at certain times) whereas English you could pick up as a major or minor over time.

I reccomend a minor in sociology as its hard to devote your entire school career to a subject that's so worthless post-grad. This way you still show the interest, can speak intelligently about sociology in an interview, but don't tie yourself down to something you're unsure of.

To summarize,

major in psychology and then either double minor in english and sociology or if you can't minor in english, do a psychology major, sociology minor and then decide what to do with english.

best of luck,

I majored in Sociology and minored in Psychology, however, I think that if I had minored in English, I would have had a better advantage particularly in the work force. Regardless of what career or future education plans you have, english will always be an asset, nobody can know too much when it comes to language. I think the real question is, should you major in Psychology or Sociology, and that would depend on what you intend to do with your degree. If you major in Sociology, you can go on to get your Masters in Sociology and start teaching, however, with Psychology, I feel that there is a much broader range of things you can do such as therapy, counseling, go on to get your Phd, etc. What it all boils down to is that with either of these degrees you will certainly need to continue on with a Masters and a Phd, so make sure it is something you really want to do, and try to come up with a rough plan of where you are headed.

Well that depends on what you would like to do once you graduate. English is always a very strong undergraduate degree once you get into the job market. People are always looking to hire someone with good communication skills. Sociology can also be a good degree if you intend to work with people (Human Resources etc) Take a class or two from each major and see which one you prefer. Generally speaking, you'll do better in classes you enjoy.

depends on what you plan to do. It seems like you're more interested in pursuing something in the psychological field. If that is so, then I would say major in psychology and sociology.

In some states you may properly be a social worker a million with a BA or BS, yet maximum you may desire to have an MA of direction to be a therapist you want a minimum of an MA with specialization and get authorized. i'm doing that now, it takes a on a similar time as yet is the best ever! in case you have a BA or BS you are able to enter a instructor's certification software and show intense college psychology. I gain this, yet taught specific desires. There are companies which will hire behavioral aids to paintings with infants and households of their residences on behavioral difficulty, particularly huge in autism, that's transforming into. working with elderly is approximately to be a great component and that i've got faith their would be extra jobs establishing up for those with BA in p.c... or Soc. these days any BA or BS is constrained, so do what you love, college isn't straight forward, while you're actually not inspired and involved, it does not paintings out properly. interpreting Psych is a fondness, i like it! merely get some reviews working with human beings on a similar time as you're in college, so once you graduate, you're able to have something on your resume. suitable needs

In all seriousness, from your question I see that you already speak English. Yes, I know there's more to it...

I would go with Sociology, because you can do more with it, and then something totally different - medical, or accounting, or electronics, or computers - hedge your bets.
