Yes is your answer. here is your quote.

[Luke 22:36] Then said He unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Yes He would. In Luke 22:36 Jesus said, "if a man has no sword and has a garment he should sell his garment to buy a sword".
Swords were state of the art weapons at the time for self defense. Jesus would be carrying a Glock 10mm now, or maybe even a better gun, but only He can improve on Glock perfection.
I find it offensive that you called me a Gun Crazed Lunatic, but I forgive you while I laugh at your ignorance.

Referring to the time when he sent the apostles out on a preaching tour of Galilee without purse and food pouch, Jesus asked: “You did not want for anything, did you?”
“No!” they reply.
“But now let the one that has a purse take it up, likewise also a food pouch,” he says, “and let the one having no sword sell his outer garment and buy one. For I tell you that this which is written must be accomplished in me, namely, ‘And he was reckoned with lawless ones.’ For that which concerns me is having an accomplishment.”
Jesus is pointing to the time when he will be impaled with evildoers, or lawless ones. He is also indicating that his followers will thereafter face severe persecution. “Lord, look! here are two swords,” they say.
“It is enough,” he answers. Having the swords with them permitted Jesus to teach another vital lesson. As has been pointed out, Peter then used one those swords to cut off the ear of one of the soldiers arresting Jesus. Jesus now said:Return your sword to its place, for all those who take the sword will perish by the sword -Luke 22:24-38; Matthew 26:52

I won't respond to your generalization of right-winged Christians.
Yes Jesus will arm Himself, when He returns He will not come passive. Rev.19:11-16 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire and on His head are many crowns. He has a name written on Him that no one knows ,but Himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood and His name is the word of God. The armies of heaven were following Him,riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen white and clean. Out of His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with a iron scepter. He treads the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh He has this name written: King Of Kings And Lord of Lords.

Deut. 32:43 Rejoice,O Gentiles with His people, For He will avenge the blood of His servants, and render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people.

My God is an awesome God filled with Love, compassion & tender mercies, and longsuffering.Wanting none to perish. But, Watch He is coming again! Watch!

PS I don't own a gun or sword.

Jesus doesn't need a gun.

See here:

Zechariah 14:3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle.
4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.
5 You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

And here's the graphic part:
12 This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

Remember on the ocassion of Judas betrayal, the account in Luke shows Peter pulled a sword and cut a soldier's ear. Jesus made him put away the sword, heal the soldier and calm the situation. On another ocassion, the clergy was trying to trip him about paying Roman taxes. He said pay Ceaser's things to Ceaser; but God's things to God. Meaning to obey man's laws except when they come into conflict with God's Law. Then we would obey God's higher law. In fact, he said people would know who his followers were if they had love among themselves. That leaves out being in political wars with people of the same faith living on both sides wouldn't it?

According to the books Jesus didn't come to bring peace, but to bring a sword. Matthew 10:34

Yes, we think it is tragic when someone goes "Postal" killing many people, But I think U all need to read Luke 22:35-38 where Christ says " Let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one." Then when His boys bring 2 swords to him he says"It is enough." Giving approval to their group being armed! John

I find a lot of things ironic about Christians; that they drive around with shotguns in their pickups ready to use at a moment's notice is just one of them.

Actually the historical Jesus was brought up in a very violent time. The Jewish people were trying to end the Roman occupation of Jerusalem. Jesus actually belonged to a widespread militant arm called the Zealots. Jesus did and would arm himself in order to free Jerusalem.
