I want to make cupcakes that have a muffin-like top. Got any tips? So far I've been producing slightly domed-shaped or flat cupcakes and disguising the flaw with plenty of frosting.

If your baking soda is old, it may not rise as much as it should. You could try increasing the amount a bit.

leave at least ½ inch of room between the top of the batter and the top of the paper liner. A cupcake with room to grow will take advantage, giving you the nice, high, rounded top

THE TRICK IS THAT SCOOP IN THE CAKE MIXTURE WITH AN ICE CREAM SCOOPER (THAT THING THEY USE IN ICECREAM SHOPS TO SERVE ICECREAM) . THAT WILL GIVE IT A ROUNG=D SHAPE ON THE TOP

I think it has to do with how the flour rises. Yeast or something. Sorry. That's all I got.
