I recently purchased a foreign knife made of high carbon steel and I want to keep it free of rust. Some fingerprinting has already developed on it and I want to clean and sharpen the blade. Where can I find information on how best to do this, and where can I purchase the necessary materials? Would my local Walmart or Lowes have what I need?

Your local Walmart will have what you need, but I recomend going to a sporting goods store, If you don't have much experience with knives get a sharpening kit, and some oil, light mineral oil is good

Wash the blade good with soap and water, dry the blade REALLY good, then oil it. As for the finger printing, jeweler's rouge and a dremel work well, but do that before you oil it.
