If you are assiged to specific chaperone's, request that you are in a group with another chaperone.

Embarrassing as it is.........do you realize that its wonderful having caring loving parents that want to participate in their child's life? Look around, how many parents are 'too busy' or divorced?

Request to be put in a seperate group away from your mom. Maybe you could hang with your friends during the trip but make sure you don't avoid your mom completely as that will hurt her feelings. She obviously loves and cares about you. I use to have that problem all the time anytime I had a field trip mom would want to be there. My 8th grade year for our end of year trip we went to Washington DC and stayed for a couple nights. I requested to be put in a different group therefore I was also in a different bus. I barely saw her the 3 days we were away and I had a great time.

Ask her if she wouldn't mind being another groups chaperone. Tell her that you don't want to hurt her feelings, but that you'd feel more comfortable this way. Especially since she said that she wasn't going to sign up for the trip in the first place.

depending on the trip and your grade, it might be such a bad thing that mom is going, most school trips kids are so involved with their friends and where ever you guys are going that you might not even notice your mom is there...

but least if you run out of money mom is there! ;-) just a joke

Why does this have to be embarrassing? Is she a drunk, drug addict, head case or what? Get over it . . .she's obviously going, so make the most of it. Be thankful that you have a parent that wants to be involved. The kids that don't have involved parents will be envious.
