Actually people who do that are mentally ill, or at best delusional. So I suppose I agree with your point about what might not have stated it that way.
They were properly watching too many movies and just needed something to make themselves feel unique and different. Don't worry it's a phase that will grow out of it, either that or they will be institutionalized eventually.

I know who you're talking about. They are people that, for some reason, have just become obsessed with the idea of what a Vampire's lifestyle would be. They find it exotic and romantic. They desperately want to BE vampires, so they take to drinking each other's blood. Some of them go so far as to claim they have become actual vampires and can't live without the blood. The population of people following this lifestyle skyrocketed after Anne Rice's vampire series came out.

Now a days, vapirism is more popular than what is used to be. Vampires aren't so feared as they were some years ago. The unknown of it has become attracetive to some people. Vampires to exist, they do, but the people that pretend be one are just obssesed with the idea of wanting to know more, wanting to live that experience, without them even knowing what they really are getting themselves into. Don't judge them for what they do, we all have weird habits, and we all find different things intriguing, that's just how beings are.

Not all vampires drink blood. But most of the ones that do have to do it to survive. Others do it because they have a strong blood lust. Sometimes it's a little of both. You can't down a vampire for their needs. It's like saying that humans are so disgusting and gross because they breath air. Plain ridiculous!

I'm not a vampire, or even a wanna-be. I just enjoy the taste of blood.
Do you eat meat? You do realize that there is always lots of blood in that, right?
Really, try it. Just don't drink alot, as that's unhealthy.

I don't really know. Most who do those things have lost, or never found, their own identity. Connecting,"drinking blood", is the only way that they feel connected to another because otherwise, they are viwed as losers or outsiders by others.

There's nothing wrong with consumption of blood as long as you know that the person you're drinking from is healthy.
