New Brunswick is the only officially bilingual province. All other provinces are English speaking in the majority, except for Quebec, of course.

Alberta is almost all English except for the English-speaking Quebecers that moved out there in the 70's to get away from the Parti Quebecois and the FLQ. Those people may still speak some French.

Manitoba has more French than the other prairie provinces thanks to their Metis history, but is still predominantly English.

If you speak English, you should be fine in any province except Quebec, and even there most of the store clerks, hotel staff, and waiters speak both English and French.

Nope not in Western Canada.. from Manitoba, Sask, AB and BC its English threw and threw. There are so many different ethic backgrounds here that English will feel like a second language...lol.. I'm kinda joking...

Also Ontario too.. Quebec that is really the only place that French is preferred. East Coast well they talk English but its pretty funny.. alot of slang and funny ways on how they say say things...

Where are you guys planning on going? there are some really great spots in in AB and BC

French is the official language of both Quebec. New Brunswick and the Yukon are bi-lingual (french and english). Northwest Territories and Nunavut are multi-lingual (french, english and native languages are all official) Every other province is officially english. Most people in British Columbia speak english. But there are many immigrants in the big cities in BC, so unless you speak Chinese don't expect everyone to speak your tongue.

You can even travel all major cities in Quebec and get by just fine with only English. You would likely hear more Ukrainian in the West than French.

No, I have friends and family in both places who don't speak any French. It's like going to southern California and not speaking any Spanish, it's a prevalent language but English is what everyone speaks.
