How do I get a program to work on XP that was designed for 2000? I can't even set it up to run on XP! What do I do?

Windows XP has what's called a "compatibility mode" that let's you run software designed for earlier operating systems. This Microsoft help article will walk you through the steps:

Newer programs are usually backward mobile. It might be that your firewall or antivirus program is interfering with proper installation. I would try uninstalling it, restart, then reinstall it in Safe Mode.
