I almost always (95% of the time) stop at the stop sign, then if possible, I roll forward slowly and as close to the intersection as possible to see both ways. This is a good compromise to abide by the laws of the land and the laws of practicality.
Just ignore anyone behind you who is beeping because that's the person who is going to lose their fender to an oncoming car.

By law, you are required to come to a complete stop behind the crosswalk, and then inch out if you cannot see around the corner for oncoming traffic.

Man, its been 11 years since I took drivers training and I still remember that. What rock did you crawl out from under?

Before the front bumper is parallel to the stop sign unless there is a line indicating where to stop or a cross walk in which case you must stop behind it and then cautiously move forward until you can see

You are to stop behind the stop sign. Then you ease out and ensure that it is safe to continue into the intersection. Once you have determined that it is safe, proceed.

There is usually a white line on the road next to a stop sign. Thats where I stop.

Depends on the state law. If there is a white line, you must stop there. If you do have to roll up to see because of obstructions, then you must come to a complete stop after the roll. And then you can go. (To advoid a traffic ticket)

You are supposed to stop at the sign usually denoated by a white line and then creep foward so you can see.

The "legal stop" is behind the crosswalk, or sidewalk if there is one, if not it's right up to the edge of the road.

I stop close enough to see both ways. Anything else is unsafe.
