I was diagnosed with a rare cancer at 17. Was given 2-3 months without treatment and up to 5 years with treatment. I was told that if I would make it in remission that if it ever came back, I would have 0% chance because of how aggessive this cancer is and no one has been able to make it and stay in a second remission. I was in remission for 18 months when it reoccured. When it was found I was given 0% with approx. a month to live. I listened to what the doctors said, but I just couldn't accept that. I have ALOT of faith too! I told the doctors that I was going to make it. They told me that no one has ever made it into a second remission with this cancer and I told them I was going to be the first and that I was going to get a miracle. I told them God gave me a miracle before to make it in remission..he can do it again! Sure enough, I did make it into remission in 2000. I have been in remission ever since!!!! I have been very blessed. Because of radiation I received to my face/neck area, I received cataracts in my eyes. I was born legally blind and could never see anything without my glasses. I had to have cataract surgery and now I have 20/20 vision. Another Miracle! Also because of the radiation to my throat area, the doctors told me that I would never be able to sing or scream again (not sure exactly why) I love to sing. I used to go to some of the local churches and sing and this really broke my heart. I would put in one of my tapes to sing and I couldn't even get a note out. It was wierd, I could talk, but I couldn't sing or scream. Months and months went by and still nothing. I kept praying every day, God, please give me back my voice that I can sing. My dream was to sing on my wedding day. That day was approaching and still I couldn't sing. The day before I was married my voice came back instantly. The funny thing is that I still can't scream! I didn't pray that I could scream, I only prayed that I could sing! I am VERY blessed!!!!

Any cancer survival story IS thrilling--especially to the survivor. I've had breast cancer twice. In 1999 I had the lump removed and 1 round of chemo. It stayed in remission for 2 years, then was back. Had even more removed and reconstructed. After 2 rounds of chemo (it was the 2nd round of chemo I thought was going to kill me.) I waited 3 months and had another mammogram. It still showed SPOTS. I almost had heart failure. After all that chemo it was still there. Then I had an MRI. It was gone. Another mammogram--it was gone. That was 6 years ago and I had a mammogram 4 months ago. STILL GONE.

Yes..My grandmother.
She had a pretty bad case of breast cancer. So far that, upon diagnosis..her first reaction was not to fight it..she simply didn't even want to take treatments. But, after a week or so, she eventually decided to take them.. So, she started Chemo, Had a mastectomy, and began radiation. About a year later, she was done..and Cancer free! This has all been about 2-3 years ago now..and she's got her strength back and everything, you'd never even know it happened! =D
Praise God:]

OK......my husband was diagnosed with rectal cancer back in May of 2005. They could tell from the beginning that they would be able to get it all, and they did. But he went through chemo/radiation treatments for 3 months, then had "the" surgery in September. 2 more surgeries were needed but by the end of December 2005 he was through with surgeries and was back on chemo for another couple of months. He's still not considered "cancer-free" until 5 years have lapsed, but all the checks they are constantly putting him through still show all is clear.

Cancer is far more likely to make a person realize that "god" isn't paying any attention at all if he's even there. Even if you are lucky enough to get doctors with enough skill to help you survive, it still sucks to go through. If god is there, he doesn't care about individuals, though maybe he cares about groups of people. Think about it, nothing shitty has happened to New Zealand in AGES...maybe that's how god wants us to be!
