Naturally the Democrats will want to disarm all of us and leave us at the mercy of the criminals. Does this incident justify this?

I don't think it justify's banning guns, but this isn't important right now. what's important is that families have lost loved ones and everyone needs to lend out compassion and support and shy away from selfishness.

Dude, I am a Yellow Dog Democrat, I own and use 6 hand guns and 2 rifles. Nobody that I vote for wants to take yours or my guns away. That is a lot of special interest drivel from the NRA and the gun lobby. If I or you are not criminals or mentally deranged and don't have restraining orders against us, what do we care that the BIG BAD GOV. knows we have a gun?

Nope, if you ban guns only criminals will have guns and you will be out gunned and in trouble. The first thing a government does to take control of a country they invade is take away the guns, Hitler did this.

The best way to prevent gun violence is to have the people all owning guns that way the criminals would not know if they would survive a crime because they might get shot by a legal gun owner.

Hey Liverlips...the US did try to ban drugs, and alcohol and even some types of sex......it didn't wok then just as banning guns won't work. Britain has a gun ban and there are still shooting there (although far less than here, but their stabbings are way more than ours). The Dems will use this in yet another push to ban guns, but that has as much chance of getting through even this congress aas GW has of telling the whole truth about Iraq. What we need is effective enforcement of current laws...not new ones.

Glad to see the gun ban on campus is working. Lordie.
If there had been a responsible gun owner around who had licensed concealed firearm this massacre would not have gone on anywhere near as long as it did.
What's going to happen now are all the copy-cat killers out there getting ready to shoot up another campus.
It's a sick world.

I live in Brazil. The whole country recently voted on whether to ban guns. I voted we continue to have the right to have guns, and this vote finally won. People asked all the yeahs why, trying to imply that we were some gun toting freaks. If guns were banned those who wanted to defend themselves would have nothing, and the criminals would never be affected by the ban and get the guns illegally. So it leaves me worse off. Thats why I voted in favor of the right to own guns.

i think of you're able to make a good arguement for giving a sprint bit a tax ruin for people who frequently carry hid weapons legally. it is lots extra low fee than doubling the police rigidity and national secure practices and can have a miles better end-result. i think of it does justify banning "gun loose" zones nevertheless. If i desired to kill a gaggle of human beings, i might pass to a extensive, populated, gun-loose zone to do it too!

Of course not, although the liberals and gun-banners will exploit this to pump up public opinion yet again.

Every gun ban that has been tried has actually worked at cross-purposes. Ban guns, and gun crimes INCREASE -- because those who would use guns to commit crimes DON'T OBEY THE LAW. Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Enforcement of existing laws would be far more effective than just layering on more laws on an already extremely highly regulated business.

no but those stupid right wing republicans need to wake up this isnt the wild west anymore and we need some tighter restrictions on gun control. It should be much harder to obtain guns and the government really needs to start taking action. How many times do innocent people need to be murdered for these people to open there eyes. i hope that in such a terrible event, at least a shred of goodness can come out of it and the united states will finally tighten gun control laws.

Of course not. It should justify just the opposite, actually. If some of those students--or professors--had guns, they could have taken out the little nutjob before he killed 32 people.
