I wish well for people all the time, between you and me in some bad cases I've even asked the non-existant God to help on the off-chance he's(she or it's) real to help save wonderful people with hideous diseases.
I somewhat believe in positive energy having a good result.

Yep, I do, even though I know it is pointless, it makes me feel good about myself.
It is a response to not being able to really help people. Just like prayer.
The big difference is that if I have the ability to help someone and choose not to, I don't allude my self into thinking that my good thoughts or vibes are providing tangible help. Where as many Christians think they can walk away from the poor and pray for them as a means of helping them.

Just because we don't believe the same thing doesn't make me a bad person. I shed good thoughts of others when I can. I don't do it all the time but I think I do it without thinking. When I know someone needs a little extra help, I try to send my energy their way.

I'm a Christian who knows the power of prayer. No disrespect intended, but I have always wondered what non-believer's think their "good thoughts" or "well wishes" can accomplish? They're just an individuals thoughts, with no power to effect any kind of change. It's nice to have good thoughts toward others, but it won't help them, so why do people offer them in place of prayer? Thoughts?

Well, I'm a buddhist, so I guess that makes me a different kind of believer but every morning I light my altar candle and incense and dedicate the actions I will take this day to alleviate the suffering of others......we all need a little of that.

I think I spend more time "doing good" than I did when I was a believer. I spent most of my time judging people and worrying about hellfire and damnation when I was a believer

Of course I do all of the time. A person doesn't have to be religious to send a kind word or provide a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on to somebody who they feel is in need of it.

Absolutely. Life is rough, and a lot of people need to hear good wishes and sympathy.

Um......doesn't it make more sense to pick up a phone and just call them?
I know that may sound crazy to someone who thinks he's communicating telepathically with a dead Jewish insurrectionist in the sky.

No, as a skeptic who looks for evidence before doing things for no reason, I have seen nothing to suggest that people can pick up on 'good vibes'.
