Yeah. I was thinking. This wall is just as bad as the Berlin Wall. We are keeping people out of our country. This leads me to say our FREE country. Whats so wrong with Mexicans? Why does everyone feel like we need to keep them out? Has anyone noticed that they're a major asset to our economy? WAKE UP!

I agree with you. The wall will bring nothing but trouble to the US and its people. That wall just reminds everybody off the Berlin wall in Germany which was later destroyed. Nothing good will come out of it. The economy will suffer and will have a big impact on the NAFTA. People are being split apart from their families, and being forced out of the country when they only just came here in hope to have a better life. What ever happen to the Great land of the free. All we want is to live the all American dream. What is wrong with that?

Sir, nobody is expecting the "wall (actuall, it's a fence, but who's listening)" to actually stop illegal immigrants from crossing the border. In fact, the "wall" is only supposed to be a deterrent. With more enforcement of immigration laws already on the books, the US can at least seize control of it's borders.
And what's so wrong with keeping people out of the country; isn't that what every country with a border does (see North Korea, Irag, Irn, Syria, Pakistan, Mexico)?
Mexicans? There's nothing wrong with Mexicans;; just their illegal brethren.
And who says that illegal immigrants are an "asset" to this country (besides illegal immigrant advocates anyway)? If helping overcrowding our schools, helping to bankrupt hospitals, and costing tax payers billions "helping" the US, I'd hate to see what would happen if they were considered to be "detrimental" to the country.

WAKE UP! YOU ARE TOTALLY WRONG ON EVERY POINT!!!!!!

The Berlin wall was to keep citizens in one country. The border wall is to separate two countries. There is no similarity, Dude!

You claim the wall won't work. Then why is the fence at San Diego decreasing the number of crossings? Why is Mexico so upset about a wall? One reason - the wall WILL work.

I don't hate "Mexicans." I am livid about the illegal alien invasion! This is not a racist issue. I is only about our laws! I don't care if the illegal alien is from England, Canada, Ireland or France. If they are ILLEGAL, they must leave yesterday.

BTW, we want the illegal alien criminals out because they are breaking our laws and destroying our country. They are NOT an asset to our economy. It is estimated that an illegal might bring in $9,000 into our economy with taxes (sales tax, property tax through rent, etc...) However, the services they use are about $33,000. The taxpayers are shelling out about $22,000 each year for each illegal.

In addition we don't need them. Proof - May 1, 2006 protest was suppose to cripple our country. It didn't. It was much better without them.

BTW, where's your proof for your outrageous lies? What, you have none! I'm not surprised!

It not Mexicans, it's illegals. I think you are the one who needs to "wake up." No, a wall won't work, but we need to do something. Also, what asset are they? Coming into our country illegally (a crime), stealing SS#'s (a crime), not paying taxes yet driving on our streets and using our resources, using our hospitals and not paying the bills which WE now have to pay, etc. SOOOO.. I guess you're saying that you support criminals and people who milk the
government and the CITIZENS of the USA?!

BTW...for those who use the arguement that Illegal immigrants do the work that Americans wont do..that is BS! So we didn't have picked fruit before they came? Did we all starve? Of course not. The problem is they work for cheap and the employers don't have to pay them min wage, workman's comp, benefits, etc. An American would expect the previous things. Think.

Nooo the berlin wall was meant to keep people IN not out so they could continue to experience the social bliss of communism. Furthermore this is not a "free country" as you put it. We have laws and borders just like every other country in the world. It is what defines a country. The ILLEGAL immigrants in this country are not an asset rather a drain on our resources. This includes medical, social, and economic resources.

The answer to illegal immigration is to funnel money spent on tactics such as walls or fences into aiding the mexican economy. If we took all the money we spent on the mexican border and put it into programs aiding the poor in Mexico, things might actually change and less people might want to come here. Things like grower cooperatives that give smalll farmers more power, start up funds for small businesses, anything that educates people on new ways to support their families, etc, etc etc. Many people will say that Mexico is not our problem, but apparently it is to some extent or we wouldn't have so many people ranting about illegal immigrants. You must address the root causes of illegal immigration if you truly want to stop it. Its all about giving people an option and teaching them how to gain a decent life without leaving their homes. If we were starving here and Mexico was doing great, don't think for a minute that all you illegall immigrant bashers would't be wading south across the Rio Grande.

Like if a wall is going to keep the illegals out. When people are devoted to come to this country to a better life they will find another way of doing it. No one has the power to keep them out when they are willing to risk thier own life and besides America wouldn't know what to do without them all.

First of all, the Berlin wall separated a city and nation in half. Those to the east of the wall could not leave. This wall would not keep people from leaving, it would only hope to keep people from entering without permission. There is a difference that you will notice if you choose to look at this logically instead of with ignorance in an effort to push your own agenda.

Additionally, it can't work alone, but it is a part of the solution.

Other components of "comprehensive immigration control" as I see them are:

1) Change the 14th amendment to reflect that all babies born to person in the U.S. LEGALLY will be natural born citizens and all babies born to a person in the U.S. ILLEGALLY will be deported immediately upon discovery.

2) Take away all social benefits of illegal aliens who are inside our borders...including but not limited to: free education, free health care, free food, free or discounted or rent-control/low income housing.

3) Fine all employers and imposed mandatory jail time for top executives of all U.S. companies who hire -directly or indirectly-even one illegal alien.

4) Charge any government official (federal, state, county, city, etc.) who tries to pass a law in favor of illegal aliens with treason.

A wall designed to keep CRIMINALS out is in no way comparable to a wall designed to imprison people.

There is nothing wrong with Mexicans. If they're here legally, then good for them. If they're in Mexico.. then good for them. BUT.. if they engage in crime here ( like some 30-40 MILLION of them are ) then it's a different story.

And finally, criminal immigrants are hardly a "major asset" to our economy. Exactly the opposite in fact. When you factor in the drain on our social, medical, education and criminal justice systems and factor in the extent they've depressed the pay scale.. they cost us hundred of billions a year.

WAKE UP!

Yeah, we are keeping people out. Our laws are supposed to do that, but it isn't working. A wall, with other measures like the visa exit tracking system and enforcement 'enforceable' by a citizen suit provision, would help.

It isn't a particular peoples, it is that our schools and hospitals can subsidize only so many poor, and our own children's educations, and our health care for OUR sick is failing already as a result of illegal immigration. We let over a million a year have immigrant visas, and CAN'T take the billions poorer than Mexicans all into our country.

We need to look after our OWN people first.

WAKE UP!
