If you ask a random person what they know about Islam, you will get some random responses. People generally know that Muslims worship Allah, but don't know much else. Plenty of people will venture incorrect guesses, like 'Islam is an Arab religion" or "Islam is only about Jihad" along with the mistaken idea that the word means Holy war. One of the more popular ideas that is now spreading is that "Terrorists are promised 72 virgin women when they die."

The "72 virgins" idea is probably the most overblown idea that people seem to remember about Islam. It's turning into a real stereotype...

You know what... even when you try to clear Islam's name... all these bigots will attack you saying that you are delusional and stupid, and that Islam is violent.

But as a Muslim, I totally appreciate your effort and hope that God rewards you in this struggle of sorts.

The old arabic word translated to mean virgin could also mean raisin.

I know a lot about Islam since I lived for three years in Saudi Arabia where I read the quran for my own protection and I don't believe it any more than I believe Christianity.

Why do Muslims do that? they try to correct everyone who even hints that jihaad means anything other than 'struggle'.

And then all those Muslims that are 'struggling' are killing people with strap-on bombs. It's as if 'struggle' isn't a good enough word to describe all out murder, or something.

Whatever 'jihaad' means, it's not a good thing for us who want nothing of it.

How much do Islams know about christianity.... not everyone studies up on others religions as well as they may not care -- if more islamic people preached their religion or tried to teach then more people would know about it.

I think the disciple Paul put it plainly when he said that he becomes all things to all men to win them to Christ.

Before you witness to others about Christ, you should certainly take time to learn about them and what they believe in. Building relationships goes further than slamming doctrine in people's faces.
