Pull ALL THREE of your credit reports to see if there are any accounts open in your name. You can either go to www.annualcreditreport.com* to pull all three or you can go to each bureau's site: TransUnion, Experian and Equifax. The bureaus do not share information with one another, and the information on the reports can vary greatly. That's the easiest way to find out.
Good luck!
*that site is the one sanctioned by and set up by the federal gov't. as a consumer, you are allowed one free report per year. once you pull up the site, follow the prompts for one bureau. back out of that site to main page and then go through the motions with each site. (it's not a one-shot deal. they all ask different questions). be ready to verify information from your past such as old addresses and previous employment. you also might need to verify an open line of credit if you have one.

Let me tell you something about identity theft. Once you start seeing signs of trouble, you can expect to be much worse. You need to be very aggressive in fighting it.
http://www.consumer.gov/idtheft/ is the government site that will explain exactly what you need to do, step-by-step in fighting a case of identity theft.
I would also suggest you contact this credit card company again and ask for a supervisor....but whoever you talk to explain that this is NOT your card and you may be the victim of identity theft. The the name of the person you talked to, log the time and date. This will put them on notice that there is a problem. Whether they continue to give you information or not is no longer your problem....let them eat the cost of further charges to this card.

Purchase a "three agency" credit report. It'll cost about $20.00 and it will show you all of the cards that are being reported in your name.
If you have cards that are in your name that you did not apply for, you will have a phone number (it is on the report) to call to report the card as a fraud. You will also have to request that the card be withdrawn from your credit (an important step).

Go to trans union and request a free credit report (you are allowed one per year) this will show you any open accounts. if you feel that any are incorrect you may contact the credit bureau and they will investigate it and help you remove/close these accounts. it will also show any balances these cards might have. good luck. a friend of mine had to do this and they removed them with no problem. you might also have to request a form from the credit bureau stating that your name was used in a fraudulent way and you might have to close all these existing accounts yourself. the credit bureau will help you with any questions regarding this.

Contact your local credit bureau and they should be able to advise what cards are currently open in your name.
