Here is my answer. My boyfriend and I were together in high school. We were too young to get married so we broke up. I went away to college; he went to college close to home.
We both dated other people--I dated someone very seriously who I thought I was going to marry. I didn't work out and by the time my graduation rolled around, my high school sweetheart and I were both single again. We got back together and are married now.
If one of us had our hearts already taken--then it couldn't have been meant to be. It was meant to be b/c when we both bumped back into each other, we were both in the right place in order to renew our relationship.
If it never comes back, it wasn't meant to be. A relationship can't work if only one person puts their heart and soul into it. If one person works at maintaining a relationship and the other one does nothing--it's not going to work.
You wouldn't wait all your life anyway--you'd find someone better. At the time you don't believe anyone can be better but suddenly someone comes along who is perfect for you in every way. Perfect in ways the other person never was. And had you stayed with that person, you would have never had the wonderful relationship with the new person.

If you love someone and you do not let them be free, then you never really know if they love you.
I even find that is true with my cats. I can pick up my cat and put him on my lap. He gets up and goes to eat or drink some water and he comes back to sit on my lap. That is a perfect example of loving someone and setting them free and having them return. It makes me feel warm and loved.
When you love someone and you hold them too tight, they almost always try to run from you. You never actually feel their love. You never really know if they love you at all.
Take care,
Troy

Love bites, huh? My answer to this is some things are not always what they appear to be! I think the point of this saying is that you can't make someone love you.....you have to "set it free" and give them space and time to figure out what they want out of life....as sad as this is, it's really helping you...you wouldn't want someone to love you because they feel sorry for you would you?

it isn't meant to be so literal.
it just means don't try to hold on so strongly that the relationship is only about how tightly you restrict them.
if you lost someone you love, you may devote three years to grieving. after that, I strongly advise you to clear your head and start over.
bear in mind that it would not be unusual for ten or even twenty years to pass before some relationships can reconcile, especially where your own offspring are concerned.

Then it wasn't meant to be and it wasn't meant to be yours. Think positively. It just might come back to you when you least expect it or it might come to you in another way. Never say never.

You don't wait all your life for it to come back. When it doesn't come back, it means you move on because it wasnt' meant to be.

Then you weren't meant to be with that person. I do believe in that phrase if you let something work itself out it will end up how it will suppose to be.

Well when you let it free, don't wait around, date, have fun, if they come back, then it your choice if you really want them back too.

if you let someone go, you're not supposed to "sit and wait" for them to return....
why stop your life waiting for someone who you might never see again?
it's your life, and YOU are the one who makes it or breaks it. go out, socialize, spend time with friends and family, get a hobby, join a club, find enjoyable activities. focus on life..meet new people.
it's yours. live it...
