So, if some guys say no, are you going to quit learning to play?
Grow a backbone.
Do what you want to do, like learn a new skill, sky-dive or race-bikes, and don't concern yourself with whether some insecure dope doesn't think you are being "feminine" enough.
You will become more of who YOU are, and you will find someone who appreciates that you have lots of different talents, and loved yourself enough to develop them.
Anyone who is aggravated, challenged or belittled by your talents and interests is NOT the right guy for you.
Yes, you will get callouses on your hands from playing guitar, needle pricks from quilting, banged up knees from playing soccer, and muscles from fencing, rowing, swimming, and other physical endeavors. (You might even get a big butt from having babies.) It's called living.
Go for it.

Not only is that normal, but it is necessary if you are going to be a decent guitar player. Being a girl has nothing to do with it. It is just part of the job. Have fun!

Yes, you are supposed to get calloses on your hand. It helps keep the strings from always digging into the flesh of your fingers and leaving nice little marks on them. Also, if you stop playing or practicing for a long time, you will lose them and have to start all over again. Trust me it happened to me.

those are actually better for your hand - especially if you're into playing guitar, that shows that you've been practicing. and it's less painful depending on the strings and going up and down frets.

yep. that's what happens when you learn the guitar. personally, i don't mind callouses on a girl's hands because it tells me she's not afraid to use them, not afraid to get dirty and work with her hands. i like adventurous girls, not the type who would turn up their nose at getting dirty on dirt bikes or dune buggies or anything like that.

oh yeah, some of my friends play the guitar, and they say they get lots of callouses; this especially will happen if you do not use a guitar pick.

I would expect that you would. If you are playing right-handed, then yes, your left hand fingertips will become calloused. And you need this so you can play without hurting your fingertips regularly. This is normal.

Get used to it! You'll get one on every finger on your left hand. If your right handed that is!
