"I believe Christians should not be allowed to get married, because they are making a choice to be who they are, and it is wrong".

Most would say "yes", that is discriminating.

Now, if I change the word "Christian" to "gay", then suddenly millions of people find it not only NOT discriminating, but find it to be true. Why is that?

well....most in the LGBT community would not agree that it is a "choice"...but other than that, you make an excellent point :-)

The premise of your arguement is a bit off as gay people do not choose to be gay as far as I know and all research has shown.

However I believe what SHOULD determine whether or not gay people are allowed to get married is whether or not it will negatively impact on society.

Even among non-Christian people, this is their arguement that gay people getting married and raising families will bring about the downfall of society. So far they have not been able to prove HOW exactly this will happen.

I know a lesbian couple together for over 23 years and they raised two children who are now fine, successful adults and (not that it matters) are heterosexual. Many say that it is ideal to have a mother and father but I think it depends. The QUALITY of the parent and their skills at childrearing is more important than the gender of the parent. Having a terrible or uninvolved mother or father is worse than having none at all.

So until the opponents of gay marriage can really prove to me, a middle aged married mother and my husband that gay people will ruin the strength of our union or endanger our children or society, we will continue to be rational minded and not fanatic and fearful like some seem to be about the issue.

Honestly i do not understand the big thing against Gay people... Not that your question reflects that you are against them or anything... I agree with you... Why is it the world is against gay people... I'm heterosexual.. I have some good friends that are gay and are some of the nicest people you ever want to meet. Why do people constantly judge people by things they can't control such as skin color, who they fall in love with, where they are from... It doesn't make any sense to me... I see people as just that... some people have more to contribute to society than others... But Being gay or lesbian Isn't a sickness it's not a choice... You can't help who you fall in love with... There are alot of other things that are "against the bible" that people do EVERY DAY and aren't judged for... Let people live and be happy PLEASE

One might ask you what the traditional purpose of marriage is. And the answer would be, for a man and a woman to become bonded, connected, and legally attached.

Traditionally that has been the case. The concept of marriage is a concept for a man and a woman. The cohabitation of same sex couples is not marriage, but something else. IE cohabitation.

If an adult is in love with a rock and wants to get marred to it, such would not be "marriage" in the legal term of the concept. It would be something different. The cohabitation of two same sex people is not marriage by definition. It is something different.

Because there are a lot of narrow minded people who can't accept that everyone is different. Change the words and I still find the sentence discriminatory. It's not my thing, but I'm not going to say others can't do it.

Because gays can't procreate. Plus, normal individuals do not want have to pay for someone's sexual immorality in the resulting environments insurance premiums Also, we don't want the same effect when the other perverts start marrying farm animals. It is a slippery slope.
Christianity is a religion, not an unnatural sexual disposition (unless your a Catholic Priest Christian). The two can't be interchanged.

Because unlike, Jesus their Lord, Christians are intolerant bigots themselves.

I think Christians should not be allowed to marry because they should be prevented from multiplying and expanding and perpetrating their evil upon the world..

I love your question. It is a good one. I personally, don't have a problem with homosexuals. In fact, my best friend is gay and I hope that someday he will find someone who loves him and want to spend the rest of his life with him, just as I would for any of my other friends. I, myself, am straight, but I have many gay, lesbian bisexual friends and wish them all the happiness in the world.
