A couple of ducks (we think a male and a female) have decided to hang around our yard. It's been three days and they're still around. We've been feeding them bread and birdseed off and on, but what other foods would be good to give to them? Should we not be feeding them at all? They do seem hungry though.

Bread is a very bad thing to feed ducks, it does not give them nutriants or anything they need. It makes them full so they dont eat the other healthier foods they should be eating. Try feeding them dog food, little chunks of apples and other fruits, vegitables, and bugs.

My husband use to have a "pet" duck {yes he bought it for a pet} and he would feed it poultry feed which he bought at the tractor supply {feed store}store. It also LOVED earth worms and minnows! We never fed it bread and never gave it standard bird feed as it does not meet their nutritional requirements. If you want it off your property stop feeding it.

Feeding them bread and seeds will not harm them... if you want them off your property then i sugest you stop feeding them at all but if you dont mind then keep at it... they can still find food withoiut you but everyone likes free food!

Snails and corn were a huge hit with my duck "quack quack" but after a couple of years of trying to keep him safe from predators, I pretty much released him in a pond...suburbia was simply no place to keep him, and keep him happy...
