If you are standing all day, and at a bench or counter, one of the simplest ways to remove and prevent pain is to place a block of wood, phone book or an object on the floor. Place one foot on the object with the other one still on the floor.

Every half hour or so, swap the foot placement so the other foot is on the object. This alters the posture of your lower back and stops the joints and muscles tiring as the day goes by.

Add in the obvious rest every now and then, changing your posture regularly during the day and most of all... when you are at home, lie down more often. IF you are watching TV, reading or listening to music, do it lying down and allow your spine to get a well earned rest.

I hope you find this helpful as I know it is very effective.

Cheers
Graeme

Do exercises to strengthen your back muscles. Get good shoes that will support you right: I once tried wearing El-Cheapo bargain-bin shoes at a job where in my feet all day long for about 3 days, and every single day I felt like I had been beaten from the neck on down with a rolling pin. These days when I buy shoes, I get a good pair of cross-trainers. And consider getting a back brace. You may have noticed stockers in various stores wearing them: That's why.

Good luck!

Good shoes make a huge difference. Also if you stand in one spot, a mat makes a difference, too.
