Chicken soup mmmm, chicken soup goes very good with a chicken salad sandwich.
If you cooked chicken for the broth, use the chicken to make a salad and use ciabatta bread.
Chicken salad Sandwich
two cups cooked chicken (chopped or pulled)
1/2 small red onion (chopped)
2 cellery stalks (chopped)
3 tbs Mayonaise or Sour Cream (or to your taste u can use more)
1 tsp dijon mustard or your favorite mustard
salt and pepper to taste
optional, you can add green grapes halved, or chopped green apple and walnuts or toasted almonds. (is really good)
making the sandwich
get the ciabbatta bread and pinch out some of the soft bread and line it with red leaf lettuce and spoon the salad on it and close the sandwich...and let it stand for at least 20 min before the eating it along with the soup.
Is a great combination...
Enjoy!!!

Actually, you mind find a nice, hot loaf of Vienna bread might be tastier with this soup than rye...but the rye will be okay. I'd also serve a big salad with lots of different vegetables.
Sounds like my kind of meal!

I usually like a big bowl by itself...it doesn't need much. Crackers or bread are nice but personally, I don't usually add them. The soup by itself is a full meal.
You could make a fresh fruit salad to serve with coffee later, that would be nice.

This is a wonderfully simple recipe that I love with soup.
You can omit the peppers if you like.
Mexican Cornbread
1 cup all purpose cornmeal
½ cup all purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
2/3 cup milk
2 eggs
1/3 cup vegetable oil
½ cup chopped onion
1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
1 cup chopped jalepeno peppers
salt to taste
1 can creamed corn
Mix together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, milk, eggs, salt and oil. Stir in onion and creamed corn. Pour ½ corn bread batter into bottom of a greased 8x8 or 8x9 square pan. Top with cheese and peppers and spread onto batter. Pour remaining batter on top of cheese and peppers. Bake at 350 degrees, about 35 minutes or until done.

Well, if your family is like mine your still trying to finish-up those hard-boiled Easter eggs. So how about serving egg salad sandwiches (on toasted bread) with your soup. My family loves crackers with anything soupy so I keep the healthy kind around for just such an occasion.

mmmmm It all sounds wonderful! And so does the bread. I'm making chicken soup today also. Why not just a nice salad made with a selection of nice greens and all the other goodies. Top with some crumbled gorganzola or feta, and your choice of dressing. If you make your own dressing, even better.

No I think you said it. Slad and bread. A different kind of bread maybe??? Not just white. And make it homemade. My kids could eat chicken noodle soup everyeday. I even canned some homemade this year. :0)

Mmm that sounds delicious! I think peanut butter and honey go great with soup, especially on a cold day. Honey and peanut butter are very nutrious too. Place warm honey (from the microwave) onto the fresh bread, spread a thin layer of p.b. and be prepared to have it all eaten/ no leftovers with this. When's supper?!

The crusty rye is great! What about a green salad? Homemade chicken soup!!
There is nothing like it. I haven't made any in ages--a few years. Could you push
some through the monitor or wave that lovely smell towards it???
