The unborn baby is a person too. Why do we deny the baby a choice whether to be aborted. This could be the next President of the US & end up being the best one ever.

I have family who stole my right to have a niece or nephew. Who cared about my choice that they live. Or who cared about the dadies choice? Or who cared about the babies choice? There are others in the family. This isn't just a pregnant woman.

Mrs. N.,
It is a shame you won't take your God given right to vote for the best in our country.

I believe we, as Christians, should pray for the best for our country & that would also be to vote for the best for our country.

In the abortion issue, who is voting for the littlest people who can't defend their right to survive the womb. America is liberty & justice for everyone. We can't take other peoples rights away, even the littlest ones.

Yes, we should be allowed to vote, but even more so, we need to be educated. Killing human beings for the convenience of ourselves should not be a matter that we would have to vote on. Isn't that just horrifying?

Even the dumbest animals on the face of the earth protect their young. There are only a few who are dumber than a box of rocks, and could care less what happens to their offspring.

The idea that intelligent, civilized human beings think that is alright to kill their own is unnatural and frankly, I wonder if we haven't all lost our minds.

Note: As naive as I am, at least I know the difference between my own body and that of another. We are not discussing what to do with your own body. That child is not part of your body, like spit or snot, which carries your own DNA.

That child carries within him an entirely different set of DNA, that child is not you.

And to Jenn_Smithson: Yes, pigs eat their young at times and it is called 'savaging'. I wonder why.

First, a civics lesson (don't they teach civics in school anymore?) As a Republic, the citizens of the United States do not vote for or against the laws they want. We elect legislators to craft and enact our laws. Legislatures are 'deliberative bodies' meaning that they debate and consider all aspects of a law before they decide. Such things as the will of the people, whether the law itself is legal in the context of our constitution, the fairness, and necessity. In this way, the majority does not always win (if it did, no minorities would have any rights).

That said, all US citizens have a voice. They can vote for the other guy in an election, they can talk to their legislators, they can lobby, they can write letters to the newspaper, they can speak out on any topic, they can run for office themselves. If their message prevails, then things can change.

But even if the people could vote on this directly (they can't) and even if a majority would vote for it (probably not) any such law may run afoul of the courts. The trouble with laws to outlaw abortion is that they do not take into account the right to privacy and self-determination. So the courts have consistently overturned laws to ban abortions. The best and surest way to end abortion is to end unwanted pregnancy and leave politics out of it.

This is a very touchy subject, and I am sure most people could easily find arguments to justify both sides of the issue. Personally I am against abortion. On one side I feel that part of a responsible society entails protecting those who cannot protect themselves. Based on this, I say yes, let's vote. On the other hand, I feel this is also a moral issue, and for that reason it should be up to the person to decide. At the end, the most important aspect of this issue, should be preventing unwanted pregnancies in the first place, and in order to do this, we need to start educating children from a very early age about the importance of taking responsibility for their actions and all its consequences. Only by doing this, could we diminish unwanted pregnancies, and rape acts.

No. I only say this because freedon of choice is a big part of being a human and I would never want to take those rights away from someone. I have not been horribly raped, and have it result in a pregnancy. I have had children, though and I cannot imagine after looking in their faces that I would ever give them up for adoption. Abortion is a very sad thing and my heart goes out to anyone who has had one or has considered having one.
I think it is best if we leave the choice open for people, because we all need to be guided by our own consciences.

The people of South Dakota recently voted. Are you sure you want this to be a state by state issue? You'll lose all 50 times.
The vast majority of Americans want abortion to be legal (because we all understand that the government and our voting neighbors have no place in deciding which medical procedures we should undergo without taking our needs and health into consideration). Poll after poll after poll after poll shows this.

We don't want or need a small, obnoxiously loud group telling us all how to live our lives or what direction our health care should take especially when this same group wants nothing to do with actually helping people have and raise children!

And, to the naive person who posted about animals in the wild protecting their young - Animals have been DOCUMENTED giving themselves abortions by eating specific herbs! Further, some animals EAT their young. Obviously the animal kingdom is not the place to go to look for definitions of human motherhood.

Peace,
Jenn

i imagine it really is a double edged sword. i do not trust in Abortion. I also do not trust contained in the warfare. i replaced into in basic terms about fooled into vote casting for Bush because of his non secular beliefs(massive comic tale). I then had to step decrease back and take a 2d look. no individual will ever stress all of us to get an abortion. it really is a personal determination. everybody is being compelled to die in this senseless, meaningless warfare. Bush has no problem leaving the little ones who're born to die of starvation and for well-being reason because they do no longer have well-being care. those are issues out of their administration. someone can administration no matter if or not they get and abortion. they could't administration no matter if or not they're left to die because of life and prerequisites. I truly ought to flow with the guy who is going with the Biblical commandment to help the negative and needy and leave abortion to the guy's personal experience of precise and incorrect.

If a person wants to, they have a legal right, but is it in line with spiritual Principle? God created us in His image and after His likeness and empowered us to use His "power to create" as we desire. We can use "sense consciousness" (originating from the five senses) or we can use "faith consciousness", the choice is ours. Every creation of God is "consciousness", "energy", and the "transformation of energy". What God creates in spirit cannot be destroyed, only what is manifested in the time domain is subject to the selfish whims of "sense consciousness". What is spirit is spirit and what is flesh is flesh and returns to dust. If God wanted to stop abortions, He could do it in less than a microsecond. What happens on earth cannot be changed permanently through direct action by the senses. Through "sense consciousness" we have been trying to stop abuse, cruelty, wars, etc. with no success. If we want change it must be "by my Spirit said the Lord, not by power or might". If we want to change, we need to nurture "good thoughts", "good words", "good deeds" and "do no harm" as we walk with a Grateful Heart. Let us be example to others and eventually others will follow, glorifying and honoring God, through the "Christ Consciousness". This thing of being spiritual warriors is not in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ. We need to offer a place where anyone pregnant can come and have their baby, where it will be cared for and loved. We don't need more laws. We need education, compassion, and love. Earth is in the zone of creation. Just look around you and you see creation all around you. We must joins hands and develop centers of love to take care and love the unwanted babies. Abortion is murder, anyway we look at it. "Sense consciousness" justifies it by hook or crook.

I am not a Christian and this was already voted on by the Supreme Court, Roe vs Wade, it is legal. If you do not chose to have an abortion, then don't, but don't force your beliefs on other people, it isn't fair. Do you want people to force their beliefs on you. You believe in god, do you want someone to come along and tell you that you can no longer believe in god. YOu may not see it the same way, but for those of us who believe in abortion and don't believe in god it is very much the same thing. I don't want to ut your beliefs down

Yep, and I wouldn't mind getting rid of the electoral vote in presidental elections either. Has nothing to do with being christian, but I don't think we should depend on our representatives, who are paid off for their votes to the hightest bidder. Certain things should be voted on, like abortion and going to war.

As a Christian, I know that abortion is murder. But as a Christian, I also should follow Jesus' command to be "no part of the world." Jehovah's Witnesses do not vote or involve themselves in politics.
