"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates me hates my Father as well. If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.'
"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.
"All this I have told you so that you will not go astray. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me."

Why do you ask a question and then answer it yourself if you are TRULY interested in others' responses?
Jesus said in Matthew 10:34-35:
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
Christians of ALL sorts are warned that their message of Salvation will not always be loved and accepted. We do not ENJOY this hatred, but we must "abide" it.
As for hating ourselves, that is solely a personal question. The "Golden Rule" says that we should love others as we love ourselves. Some of us are all too willing to love others as we love ourselves. When we do not love ourselves, it is very difficult for us to love others. So we must always be watchful that we don't hate ourselves, lest we hate others.
But don't confuse hatred with "disagreement," so to speak. Just because Christians do not agree with others' faiths/lifestyles/etc., does not mean that they HATE. Hate is defined as intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury. Christians disagreement does not derive from fear, anger, or any sense of injury, although people who throw out terms like "homophobia" etc. want to accuse them of such "fear." It derives from their belief that God has a set of "rules" and if people break those "rules," they are not in "harmony" with God.
I hope this will help you get over your own extreme view of Fundamentalist Christians.

They have trouble with the Gospel. They trap themselves in a display of self righteousness. They also tend to think that they are hated because they have the truth, so there's a barrier there that they might be shamed out of. I hope that I've been successful with them, they don't seem to come back after I get through with them.
I would really enjoy it if you would e-mail me when you see one. I go to LGBT section myself to combat them and to help some people with problems in their life. I am a bisexual Christian. So I get it from both sides sometimes! lol ( Really, no pun intended.)

I have yet to show hatred toward anyone else. I think you are jumping to conclusions. I do expect not to be accepted or liked for being a born again believer, God told us we would. That doesn't mean I will return hate with hate. Rather, I return hate with prayer. If I do find myself getting defensive or angry, I chose to step away from the situation and think about what God wants me to do. If I talk about catholocism, it is merely to point out what they teach that is not biblical, e.g. purgatory. It is more important for me to please God than people.
And no, I do not hate myself but I do hate when I sin.

I am a christian and as a Christian my saviour, Jesus Christ commanded me to love God with all my heart and love my neighbor as I love myself.
I don't hate myself, so why would I hate my neighbor?

We don't enjoy being hated, we just know it comes with the territory and we are fine with that.
Edit: I also don't enjoy being called a fundementalist, but again, it comes with the territory.
God bless.

Certainly seems so to me because they are so nasty and vile to everyone who isn't like them. They are so outwardly boisterous about their ignorance that I guess as insane as they are, they have fun doing it. And, yes, in turn, that makes them victims so they can boo hoo about the rest of us. What a crazy cycle of complete and utter nonsense.
