It's better to eat tuna that's not the solid white or the albacore. Those have slightly higher levels of mercury. But as long as you are not pregnant, it is all right to eat tuna every day. I eat tuna almost every day and have for the past ten or so years. My levels of "good" cholesterol are very high, according to my last blood test.

I've read that while there is mercury in it, the levels are safe enough that you can eat up to six cans a week. If you eat one sandwich a day, I think you will be fine.

If you're really concerned about it, do some research on the internet. It's easy to find charts detailing the amts of mercury in different kinds of tuna.

I've eaten at least one can of tuna daily for the past 20 years. when I was in the military I would eat 2-3 daily. all the hype about mercury poisoning is just that. it's funny how the televised media picks and choses the "news" that they report. you never see them do a special on soda which is nothing but liquid death but they will trash tuna. nobody really advertises for tuna anymore so there is no money to be made, tons of money to be made from Coke and Pepsi commercials. if it comes down to eating tuna with mercury or consuming poisons made by Nabisco, General Mills and others. I'll take the mercury poising thank you, at least I'll look good in my coffin.

Your biggest worry would be the pfcps or mercury. But stick with canned white tuna in that case. Check the can and see if its high in pfcs.
Way to go with eating healthy though.

YOu might want to read up about mercury levels in tuna. I know that they suggest you limit intake of some fish during pregnancy. Any like anything these days, excess is never a good thing even when its suppose to be good for you.

Pioneer Switches to Mercury-Free!
Oceana would like to congratulate Pioneer Companies, Inc. for deciding to switch its St. Gabriel, Louisiana chlor-alkali plant to mercury-free technology. This important switch will prevent thousands of pounds of mercury from entering the environment. Oceana staff and volunteers have logged countless calls, letters, postcards, and even rallys throughout the campaign to get this switch and it will be well worth it when the company no longer releases mercury to the environment.
