Christians go to a place in heaven with Jesus while waiting the final judgment. Unbelievers go to a place of torment also waiting for that day.
At the end of the world, God will destroy the earth. This is the day of judgment, all unbelievers will be judged on their actions. There is no judgment for those who accepted Jesus as their savior. Unbelievers will be thrown into hell.
After that, God will create a new earth where we will live with God forever. He will give us our new bodies and rewards.

You should read the Book of Revelations. There is much that will happen after death for Christians. I won't get into the deep subjects:
1st: when we die, our soul comes out and "returns to the Lord from whence it came"
2nd: our flesh, which is just a carrier or shell, will desintegrate just like normal and return to the dust where it came from.
3rd: then we wait until Christ returns, which "at the sound of the trumpet the dead in Christ shall rise and be caught up to meet Him in the air"; so that means we who are Christians and have already died, will be changed from mortal bodies into immortal beings through the power of the Holy Spirit (which we will have already possessed when we lived).
4th: Then the living Christians will join those who had died and meet the Lord in the air.
You'd have to investigate the rest of it yourself, I haven't gotten deeper into it than Judgement Day, when we all will be judge for everything we've done (every teeny-tiny thing). Satan will be loosed in the Earth for a season, then God will bind him, the Lord will reign on the Earth for a certain amount of time, then he will destroy the Earth after the battle of Armageddon, between God and Satan.....Satan will be destroyed for ever and dumped in Hell, a Lake of Fire. Non-Christians will also be turned into the form of a worm and will be tormented and keep feeling they are being burned alive but never die. God and his saints will be in a new Heaven and a new Earth and live Eternally.
I hope you seriously wanted to know this and turn to Christ if you already haven't. God help your soul if you think this is a joke.

The question of what happens after death can be confusing. The Bible is not explicitly clear on when a person will reach their final eternal destiny. The Bible tells us that after the moment of death, a person is taken to Heaven or Hell based on whether he or she had received Christ as his or her Savior. For believers, after death is to be "away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, after death means everlasting punishment in Hell (Luke 16:22-23).
This is where it can get confusing as to what happens after death. Revelation 20:11-15 describes all those in Hell being cast into the lake of fire. Revelation chapters 21-22 describe a New Heaven and New Earth. Therefore, it seems that until the final resurrection, after death a person resides in a “temporary” Heaven and Hell. A person's eternal destiny will not change, but the precise "location" of a person's eternal destiny will change. At some point after death, believers will be sent to the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21:1). At some point after death, unbelievers will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people - based entirely on whether a person had trusted Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of their sins.

1. Upon death, the soul or spirit of the believer goes immediately to be with God.
2. The Bible also says the believer goes to be with Christ in the presence of the Lord.
3. Believers are alive and conscious in this state.
4. Though it is not their final reward, it is a place of rest, waiting, activity, and holiness.
5. Paul, who was caught up in the presence of the Lord, says that he heard inexpressible things that a person is not allowed to communicate.
6. Although believers have a natural curiosity about the intermediate state, Scripture focuses on the time when Christ returns. At that time He will raise and judge the dead, and then set up His everlasting kingdom.
By the way, there is no Purgatory.

First, when we die, we will go to a place called Paradise (it is not the same thing as heaven). It's kinda like a waiting place. When Jesus Christ comes back, we will be up with Him then. Then, the Rapture, Tribulation, and Judgement Day come after Jesus comes. for more info, read Revelation in the Bible, or see the Left Behind trilogy.

We exist within time. When you die you pass from time into eternity. You are immediately at the resurrection, kind of like a spacial fast forward.
You 'awake' at the resurrection, and will immediately be 'caught up' to stand before God.
The angels will look up your name, and if your name is in the Book of Life, you will hear the most wonderful words ever,
'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.' Mathew 22:34.
But to those who are not written in the book, 'Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.' Mathew 22:41.
Is your name in the book?
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. Noone comes to the Father, except by me.. " John 14:6
"And to as many as received Him, to them He gave the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believed in His name." John 1:12.

It relies upon on whom you ask. As a liberal Christian i individually have confidence that many atheists would be welcomed into Heaven. and a superb type of hypocrite so-stated as Christians won't get in. i think of in case you observe The Golden Rule of doing unto others as you will possibly have executed to you -- then you definately are doing ok for the main section. If Jesus stated that no person comes unto the father different than via him then perhaps he meant this: which you do no longer would desire to renowned Jesus, his call or the words of Holy Scripture. particularly, Jesus basically desires to renowned you -- and he does. the present Dalai Lama stated, and that i quote: "all the top religions carry approximately the path of enlightenment." i actually like that and that i think of it incredibly is actual. there are a number of roads to Heaven. If there's a God then i'm hoping we are in a position to all agree that in the time of all likeliness a minimum of, God isn't stupid. He judges the intentions of your heart. in case you're basic and attempt to be a superb person then i do no longer have confidence God might have a quarrel with you. in case you attempt to be a contributor to the betterment of society in a manner this is sweet for absolutely everyone then what blame ought to anybody -- even God -- discover in the type of person? basically my opinion. this is my faith.

Bible says, "After death comes judgment"
Jesus told the man on the cross, "Today you will be with me in paradise"
Jesus was on a mountain and John and Peter saw him with Elijah and Moses in the spirit, They weren't in a grave waiting for the Resurrection.
Judgment day is for the unsaved.

The Bible says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I understand that God will accept me as one of the citizen's of the heavenly kingdom. There will be a judgement for me that will burn away my sin and those works that I've done that did not have eternal consequences, leaving those that we done by His Spirit through me.
