Absolutly. First off, the act of lifting is calorie-expensive. Secondly, the more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolic rate will go. Therfore you will burn calories just keeping the muscle alive.

Keep your workouts intense and limit your rest between sets, such as a circuit workout, and you'll see results. If you can squeeze out an extra repetition, you haven't worked hard enough. yyeesssss.....if you do a cardio weight lifting routine. But it is better if you seperate the two and do cardio one day and weight lifting another.
If you wanted to do a cardio weight lifting routine it would basically be lifting light weights to an aerobic pace and burning out your muscles. Speed lunges and squats aren't fun. Plus, if you do it improperly you can get hurt.
If you wanted to do cardio and weight lifting you can run one day and the next lift weights using light weights and high reps. That would burn fat and tone you.

You can only burn fat through cardio and eating right. Lifting weights will only add muscle under a layer of fat, making you look bigger than you really are.
Good examples of cardio are running/walking, dancing, swimming, biking and jump roping. If you do cardio for a minimum of 20 minutes a day for 5 days a week and start eating healthy, portioned meals, then you should start seeing a difference in a few weeks.

You can do a circuit training workout this workout is comprised of two circuits, each with six strength/cardio exercises that are completed one right after the other, with little or no rest in between. You'll do each exercise for a specified amount of time and then move on to the next exercise. Once you complete all exercises, that is considered one circuit.
