Then it will mean "peace in their own terms."
Just as the King of a country who says "My country is peaceful, because no one objects to my command."
Just as man with with a gun in his hand who says, "Shut up or I will shoot you."
Just as a powerful country whose terms of peace is only by abiding to his own terms. Are we not seeing those?

Aaah..another ignorant person reading stuff from elsewhere and portraying the Quran in the wrong way.
All the verses that you quoted above, read below and u'll find what those verses actually are. I bet you never touched the Quran in your life:
Quran 4:101 says: When you are traveling through the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten the congregations of prayers, if you fear that the rejecters of the Truth may attack you.
Quran 5:51 says: O You who have chosen to be graced with belief! (Since they deny the Final Revelation that is the Constitution of your state). Do not take the Jews and Christians as your allies. They are allies one to another. He among you who takes them for allies is one of them. Allah does not guide those who displace Command with desire.
and so on....

Your verses are wrong!
you should read the whole verse first
[9:5] Once the Sacred Months are past, (and they refuse to make peace) you may kill the idol worshipers when you encounter them, punish them, and resist every move they make. If they repent and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat), you shall let them go. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
[4:101] When you travel, during war, you commit no error by shortening your Contact Prayers (Salat), if you fear that the disbelievers may attack you. Surely, the disbelievers are your ardent enemies.
Certain Jews and Christians Cannot Be Friends*
[5:51] O you who believe, do not take certain Jews and Christians as allies; these are allies of one another. Those among you who ally themselves with these belong with them. GOD does not guide the transgressors.
Do Not Beat Your Wife*
[4:34] The men are made responsible for the women,** and GOD has endowed them with certain qualities, and made them the bread earners. The righteous women will cheerfully accept this arrangement, since it is GOD's commandment, and honor their husbands during their absence. If you experience rebellion from the women, you shall first talk to them, then (you may use negative incentives like) deserting them in bed, then you may (as a last alternative) beat them. If they obey you, you are not permitted to transgress against them. GOD is Most High, Supreme.

I think that you forgot some verses from quran to justify your statement:
049.013
YUSUFALI: O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).
I advise anyone who wants to judge any verse translated of the Quran to do the following in order to be rational:
1-you should look for different translations for the same verse to be sure that the meaning is not understood laterally.
2-you could not isolate one verse from others preceding it or following because sometimes the verses talk about an event and they can not be separated or the meaning become not correct or incomplete if you take out the beginning or the end of one verse
3-you should have basic knowledge of the science of quran comprehension and interpretation and know the rules that govern the way the verse are explained(some verses talked about events, others talked about ancient nations ,some verses are explained in sayings of Mohamed.
the first verse you wrote down here9:5 talked about the four people who verily killed Muslims and tried much to kill Mohamed and give up Islam ,not Christians and Jew or Hindu or buddiest living in the present world!
why did you chop the beginning of verse 4.101
the translation of the word 5:51 friends is incorrect "it is do not give them loyalty " loyalty in beliefs and thoughts do not let them effect your thoughts. that is different from friends .i can be afriend to anyone who differs with me in my thoughts but that does not mean that i will follow his way.
the rule in 4:34 is used in rarely strict sitiuations when the woman disobeys the good and well mannered husband who treats her in a very gentle way ,when she behaves in very bad way that threatens family. do you know the women who are so violent and go to prison for violating others ,these women are the husband allowed to beat her! and it is the last choice for her husband after kind advise and good treatment.
and the hadith talks about muslims who knew the perfect rules of islam and experienced his teachings and knew that it is true ,they are not allowed to convert to other religions in order to prptect the faith of other muslims

These verses are not from Quran
go to these sites please
www.sultan.org

If the muslims would have followed as you have written in your first point then there would have no non muslims
You tell me which army of muslims went to indonesia for converting the people
and why there are so many hindus in india when muslims ruled india for a millenium
Think properly with an open mind
May Allah guide you to the right path! Ameen

I asked for and recieved a free copy of the Quran. I seriously doubt that any of these young people who have recently converted due to racial issues or whatever have actually read the thing...it is a very LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG and complicated book. However, it does say just as you quoted above...and much much more in the same vein. The truth is that Islam is NOT a religion of peace. It is a religion of submission.
(I wonder if any of our young black Muslim friends actually know that Muhammed not only owned black slaves, but that he believed that Allah created black people for that exact purpose?)

Where is the context Sir??? would you mind telling us the context ?? you didn't read quran yourself .....Did you?? No !! just following Faithfreedom type sites does not give you the insight about islam ...To point out some religion you need to have a good study of it...No???
Now let me show the context of these verses and you would get what these are verses are actualy talking about ! and Btw i have stoped explaining my religion anymore being tired of haters who never understand our point...You know some people just ask the question and never read the answer.....and Sorry to say you are one of them Sir Edward !
About Sura 9, so this is revealed when muslims were under attack by Pagan arabs and they were in some agreement of peace with them ..and it just show that when they violate the treaty and attack you then you can attack them !
let me show you ! but please read it all if you realy want to learn these verses...you can't understan quran by just readin one or two verses and that too out of context ! Quran can be understand when you read it in flow !
For Sura 9 see the context of your out of context taken verse!
[9:4] If the idol worshipers sign a peace treaty with you, and do not violate it, nor band together with others against you, you shall fulfill your treaty with them until the expiration date. GOD loves the righteous
9:5] Once the Sacred Months are past, (and they refuse to make peace) you may kill the idol worshipers when you encounter them, punish them, and resist every move they make. If they repent and observe the Contact Prayers and give the obligatory charity , you shall let them go. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
[9:6] If one of the idol worshipers sought safe passage with you, you shall grant him safe passage, so that he can hear the word of GOD, then send him back to his place of security. That is because they are people who do not know
9:12] If they violate their oaths after pledging to keep their covenants, and attack your religion, you may fight the leaders of paganism - you are no longer bound by your covenant with them - that they may refrain
[9:13] Would you not fight people who violated their treaties, tried to banish the messenger, and they are the ones who started the war in the first place? Are you afraid of them? GOD is the One you are supposed to fear, if you are believers
Clear !!
Now Sura 4 the verse is like this!
4:101] When you travel, during war, you commit no error by shortening your Contact Prayers (Salat), if you fear that the disbelievers may attack you. Surely, the disbelievers are your ardent enemies
5:51 Relations with other people are governed by the basic rule in 5:57 & 60:8-9. The Jews and Christians who cannot be friends are specifically mentioned in 5:57; they are the ones who mock and ridicule the believers, or attack them
[5:51] O you who believe, do not take certain Jews and Christians as allies; these are allies of one another. Those among you who ally themselves with these belong with them. GOD does not guide the transgressors
[5:57] O you who believe, do not befriend those among the recipients of previous scripture who mock and ridicule your religion, nor shall you befriend the disbelievers. You shall reverence GOD, if you are really believers.
[60:8] GOD does not enjoin you from befriending those who do not fight you because of religion, and do not evict you from your homes. You may befriend them and be equitable towards them. GOD loves the equitable.
[60:9] GOD enjoins you only from befriending those who fight you because of religion, evict you from your homes, and band together with others to banish you. You shall not befriend them. Those who befriend them are the transgressors.
Now 4:34 sir the whole verse is
Quran4:34 Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all).
and if you read it all..you would know that is is about disloyal wives...And need again an explaination and my answer have getting longer!
have a good day !

I don't know if this is a waste of my time but I will sincerely (for the millionth time) try to explain each of the above misquoted verses. First let me tell you that with 1.7 billion practicing Muslims in the world there would be ALOT more deaths if Islam were truly violent *sigh*
1. 9:4 (But the treaties are) not dissolved with those Pagans with whom ye have entered into alliance and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor aided any one against you. So fulfil your engagements with them to the end of their term: for Allah loveth the righteous
9:5 But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful
9:7 How can there be a league, before Allah and His Messenger, with the Pagans, except those with whom ye made a treaty near the sacred Mosque? As long as these stand true to you, stand ye true to them: for Allah doth love the righteous.
In CONTEXT this means that if you are in a war you must withhold from fighting during the holy month and then you can fight AFTER it ends "wherever you shall find them." But that is only in war and if they repent you must stop the war. OR if you make a treaty then there would be no war. Capiche??
Next
4:101
PICKTHAL: And when ye go forth in the land, it is no sin for you to curtail (your) worship if ye fear that those who disbelieve may attack you. In truth the disbelievers are an open enemy to you.
That's strategical advice from God. The Prophet himself was attacked while doing a long prayer! Praying in the open for a long time would've made him a perfect target for the unbelievers. And note that an UNbeliever is different from just a DISbeliever because they are ones who MOCK Islam as wll as disbelieve. SO hell yea, Id be scared for my life too if I was praying 5 min. in the middle of the desert in a land I dont know with lots of non-Muslims angry at us!
Next
the PROPER translation of the verse is:
[5:51] O you who believe, do not take [certain] Jews and Christians as allies; these are allies of one another. Those among you who ally themselves with these belong with them. GOD does not guide the transgressors.
Ok..then God goes on to say:
60:8] GOD does not enjoin you from befriending those who do not fight you because of religion, and do not evict you from your homes. You may befriend them and be equitable towards them. GOD loves the equitable.
In fact God is so merciful to the Christians and Jews He says:
[2:62 & 5:69] Surely, those who believe, those who are Jewish, the Christians, and the converts; anyone who (1) believes in GOD, and (2) believes in the Last Day, and (3) leads a righteous life, will receive their recompense from their Lord. They have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.
Next
“If you fear high-handedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then beat them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them.” Qur’an 4:34
Let me first say that wife-beating is HIGHLY discouraged in Islam and growing up as a Muslim my father NEVER layed a finger on my mother. Also the Prophet himself NEVER slapped his wife. In the case that there is a "beating" it must be as a last resort and even then (as discouraged as it is) there are guidelines:
1. You must continually tell her to stop doing the sin
2. You must not "sleep with her"
3. If you do come to this point then you can hit her with a TWIG no bigger then a finger and not on her face or any sensitive part AND it can't leave a mark. You might say then: why do it at all (most people don't) but I think it is a means to humiliate her or make her feel guilty for the sin. Besides, in America there is ALOT more abuse than in the Islamic countries I've seen. Plus, a woman can get a divorce if her husband is a lunatic!
And I must also say that there are different interpretations of the word "idribuhunna" (coming from the word daraba to beat) to mean "beat it" as in leave! It is also a common expression in Islam and could very well mean that. God also says to treat your wives kindly!
As for the hadith...I don't believe hadith constitute a huge part of Islam (and they are rendered void if they don't go in accordance with Quran). Allah has only allowed killing in war and against a murder. Even if the hadith were true wouldn't it mean and non-Muslim who became Muslim would also have to be killed!??? That can't be true! During the Prophet's time a man became Christian and the prophet never killed him!
Thanks for wasting my time! Hope at least helped.
Peace.

Of course, you can find similar quotes in the bible as well.
"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me." (Luke 19:27.
"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26)
"And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched." (Mark 9:43)
