Lime and lemon are different species. They are not the same...
Citrus aurantifolia (Lime)
Lime is a term referring to a number of different citruses, both species and hybrids, which are typically round, green to yellow in color, 3-6 cm in diameter, generally containing sour pulp, and frequently associated with the lemon.
Originates from tropical Southeast Asia, where it can still be found wild.
Citrus limon (Lemon)
Hybrid between Citron Citrus medica and Lime Citrus aurantifolia.
The lemon (Citrus × limon) is a hybrid citrus tree of cultivated origin. The fruit are used primarily for their juice, though the pulp and rind (zest) are also used, primarily in cooking or mixing. Lemon juice is about 5% citric acid, which gives lemons a sour taste and a pH of 2 to 3. This acidity makes lemon juice a cheap, readily available acid for use in educational chemistry experiments.

For marketing reasons. We are used to seeing yellow lemons and green limes, so that's what we get. See the links below for different colors.
Limes and lemons are not the same. The flavor is quite different.
BTW, some citrus fruit is dyed or gassed to change the color.

no, they are totally different-both citrus, but different flavor. Just like oranges, tangerines, and clementines are all in the orange family, they each have a distinct flavor. Limes are more sweet than lemons. Lemons are more bitter

Nope, not the same. Do a blind taste test and then make a decision. In fact, when you do the test, you really need to try not to smell the fruit because each has a distinct smell.

Lemons and limes are different.
Lemons are more sour while limes are less tart and have a more distictive flavor to them.

no thay are not the same....
limes are sweeter..........make lemonade.....then make limeonade...and see what tastes beter...and remember to put the same amount of sugar in both
Limes are green beacuse their is a higher concentration of Chloroplast....and Chlorophyl.....making the pigment darker and the taste sweeter.
But all in all they are citrus fruit and all citrus fruits are freakin sweet! (or sour......lol)

If they were the same thing they each wouldn't have a different name. You're not much of a cook are you?
