I don't know about anyone else, but I know my boyfriend is 'the one' because I feel completely myself with him. When I'm around him, I feel safe and I feel like I could say anything to him without feeling stupid. It sounds a little trite, but he's my best friend, and so there's no one I'd rather spend time with. He doesn't play games, he makes me proud of him, and he treats me with respect. Over and above all the romantic things, I love the friendship I share with him, and I know it's a friendship that could carry into the years to come, because of how much we've been through in the past.

I can't really articulate other than I just KNEW. I've been in other relationships before and always wondered the same thing; how will I know when I've found "the one"? It's just a completely different feeling than I've ever experienced.

"The one" is a euphemism for any person that you think you could be happy with forever. It's rather ridiculous to believe that only one person could be that for you. Basically you have to think about the now, the immediate future and the far off future and picture yourself and him or her. You have to know each other very very well in order to do this. You have to think about all of his or her faults/flaws/annoying habits and imagine dealing with them day in and day out for the rest of your life... can you do it? Think about what you argue about now... the same types of things you may always argue about. Are they big things or little ones? Do you argue often or rarely? Can you see yourself taking care of them when they are sick? Are you happier with them than with anyone else and has that happiness lasted for years?
