April 17th postmark will get it accepted without any penalties.
However if you do not have it to pay you have a few choices.

Add it to your credit card debt by paying a small fee (but now you owe more on your credit card).

Pay what you can with your return and wait a month or so till the government bills you for the rest with a small penalty and interest charges. Pay it then if you have it.

If not able after you get the bill, pay what you can and put in a note saying you will pay more next month. Work out a schedule with them.

Final choice is to wait for the bill and then write to the IRS and make an Offer in Compromise (OIC) saying what you could pay in total considering your poor financial position. If they accept that work out a timetable of payments with them on the new lower bill
