I had them a little over 2 years ago and they are frightening!! I got mine from too much caffeine and taking medicine for allergies. It does feel like you are going to die, you get chest pain, hands shake and tingle, shortness of breath and dizziness. I haven't touched caffeine or allergy pills since then, but I am always afraid it will happen again.

I started having panic attacks when I was a teenager, I didn't know what was wrong with me. I thought I was crazy. I tried for over 20 years to hide it before I finally found out what it was. That made life very hard & very scary. After I found out what it was I finally went to a Doctor & tried some medications & my life is a lot better & much happier now. My attacks would happen when I would go to a store, or any public place. Sometimes even hearing the phone ring would cause it. I would feel like I was going to pass out, my heart would race, I would sweat really bad, my ears would ring, I couldn't understand what people were saying, I felt like I was going to throw up, I couldn't talk, I would just stutter. I thought I was going to die! It was horrible! I thought for sure I was crazy or something. I didn't want anyone to know & so I ended up pretty much hiding at home most of the time. Don't be afraid to tell people what is happening to you & go to a Doctor! Life doesn't have to feel like that! Good Luck!!!

I have been having panic attacks for almost a year now and I have learned that you can either receive med's for this or there are some kinds of home remedy that you can try like breathing methods and less stress activities .What I use to do when I started feeling like that I would go on the wed site and read about other people who was going thru the same thing just to give me a wake up call knowing I am normal and that other people go thru the same thing and "no" your not going to die!Panic attack last 3 hours at a time or some get it one min, then it's gone the next it varies with everyone If they get to be to bad go See doc for med's.
Don't worry your not alone!

When I first started to get them, at 16, I would really freak out because I felt like I was having a heart attack and that I couldn't catch my breath.
After going to the emergency room and being checked out and told that there was nothing wrong with me, it was diagnosed as anxiety attacks. I have since learned something about them.
The good news and the bad news:
The bad news is, out from taking prescription drugs, there is nothing you can do to avoid them.
The good news is, and this is how I deal with them, a panic attack cannot kill you. Remind yourself this over and over while your having one. This helps reduce that overwhelming feeling of dread to a level where you will only feel uncomfortable, instead of panicking as if you truly believe that you are about to die.
Depending on what situation I'm in, I'll tell the person I'm with that I'm having a panic attack, then I'll sit down or pace until it goes away. If it happens at work, or some other situation where I don't want people to know, I'll just go to the bathroom and sit in a stall, and ride it out.
I also feel that acknowledging it as a panic attack allows me to deal with it better. I notice that when I get a panic attack nowadays it only lasts about 5-10 mins rather than 30 - 45 mins like it used to.
I hope this helps

I think it differs from person to person. Some can be mild and some overbearing.
I used to have panic attacks at school where I froze in the middle of speaking to someone and suddenly became really self-concious and unable to talk. Luckily it rarely happens anymore so I guess I grew out of it.
I think some people do feel like they are going to die when they have more serious anxiety attacks.

I have recently been having them at night so I have not been sleeping much. I find that working out really hard during the day helps a ton. When you are having an anxiety attack, try and do something physical, like walk or run. You have a lot of energy when they come on so use that energy. If you work out every day, your anxiety attacks will go away.

You are not alone. What happens to me is I start feeling "funny" inside, like the world is closing in. My heart starts beating like I'm having a heart attack and I get dizzy. I also, at times, feel like I am going to just pass out as everything starts getting dark. It happens to me mostly at times when I'm driving. I don't know why. I've had to literally pull off of the road and get out of the car and walk around until it passes. No fun for sure. No pattern and never sure when the next one hits me but it's been a while since I've had one.
Doctors can't explain it but some say it's your body's reaction to some sort of stressful condition, you just don't realize you are under stress. I'm taking it easy these days!

i do suffer from anxiety attacks which stem from post traumatic stress disorder. however you can have them for many reasons. they do make you feel physically ill and some are so severe that you feel inevetable death. i take effexor for this issue and i dont have many anymore. this may be something you want to seek help for so you may work on what
sparks the attacks and be able to manage them

I get them alot, when you start getting one, breathe slowly and reasure your self everything is okay and your not gonna die, you will eventually learn how to talk yourself out of them. I've been getting panick attacks for over 10 years now, not as bad as they were though. Good luck to you.
